Many cats will not use a box with a lid on it. I like his way of telling you that!

Yes, changing the litter daily for a couple of weeks is expensive. We were able to have only an inch of litter down and they would use it. I don't know if your babies are particular to the depth of litter. I would not change the brand if it might trigger him to go elsewhere.

Kimm, the best thing to get rid of Giardia these days is called Secnidazole!!! You are right in that the medication traditionally used for Giardia require frequent follow ups as they do not kill the eggs, only the parasite.

It's possible for me to try if they are okey with less litter. If i change it every day i think it's not that big of a problem.

@admin, i googled it and saw it is a verry effective medicin. But unfortunatly they don't have it here in the Netherlands.. If it isn't better in a couple of weeks i will ask my vet if she knows this medication and if she is able to get it for me.

Thanks for all the advises!!

I have a question.. Has anybody experience with metrodinazol? As a cure to Giardia?

It is used, but you need to treat three to four times for it to work.

Yes, metronidazole is one of the standard treatments for giardia, although personally I find Panacur much easier as a treatment since you only have to give it for a few days, and it doesn't taste nearly as vile as metronidazole.

My cats were treated for Giardia as follows: Metronidazole 2x/day x 5 days & Fenbendazole 1x/day x 5 days. It was successful but Jammu foamed at the mouth after each dose of Metronidazole. It was pretty nasty stuff apparently.

Yes it is nasty! Secnidazole is given once and does the trick

Thank again for al the info. And the compliment!!
I will ask the vet tomorrow if they have secnidazole. Then i will try that.
So it's just one pill? One day or more days?

If they don't have this, what is the best way to give panacur? 7 days, then 7 days break and then again 7 days?
