My cat is dying of FIP

It's so disheartening to hear people say things like that, AprilAnn, and not be able to understand your pain. I have friends who don't own pets (don't even wish to) but they can understand my love for them and have grieved along with me.

But here you have a community of folk that LOVE their cats, and we all feel your pain. FIP is our worst nightmare, so little is understood and so little can be done for the kitten. And it seems especially cruel when it is a disease that takes the babies, so unfair that they don't get to live a bit first. I don't want any cat to die from a disease as nasty as this, but it does somehow seem worse for it being kittens that are affected :-(

May 13th 2012 God brought a tiny gorgeous bundle of joy into this world.

He knew that he would be my companion through the troubles I have been going through in my personal life.

February 18th 2013 God wanted Tank to come home so I sent him home.

No words can describe how I felt to hold him for his last moments. The sound of his loud purr fading away and his body going limp in my arms. It was a bittersweet end to his beautiful life. I can rest knowing he is back with God in kitty heaven along with all the kitties you have all loved and lost.

On the very bright side of things God also made chickens and my Tank loved his chicken!! So I made sure his last meal was the best.

:-( I am really sad to read this, I am tearing up as I am typing this. I remember losing Sophie a few months ago and we too were crushed but knew she was in a better place. AprilAnn, if possible... after a few weeks adopt another baby, he/she will never take Tanks place but will bring joy to your life and take away the hard times that you are going through. One way or another, we all are on our way sooner or later so make every moment count.

Thank you all very much!!! It means more than you to know to hear that people out there understand. Most of my colleagues just brush it off like "pfft it's just a cat." I guess if my love for my cat makes me a cat lady then I will wear that title with pride.

Unfortunately my baby is getting progressively worse and in an hour he will be in a better place and out of pain.
I don't know what it's like to lose a cat to FIP, but I do know what it's like to lose a feline companion after loving her for just over 21 years. Either way, it's absolutely devastating. There's no such thing as "just a cat". They are members of your family, confidants, true friends, and a major slice of your soul. Those who can't understand are the ones to feel sorry for. They are missing out on a piece of heaven. May the good Lord hold you in His loving arms, and give you strength until you meet again.

May your heart always have a special place for Tank and may his spirit always be near your side. Keep fresh, with a sparkle in your eye and a smile, those memories of your times together that will warm your heart forever.

Rest in Peace Tank

I'm so sorry for you and for Tank. He looks so peaceful and happy with his last meal, not knowing what's coming for him. I teared up looking at that photo, because it reminded me of a beloved friend that I lost a few years ago.
Once the wounds begin to heal, I can tell you that you'll find another who makes you just as happy as your beloved Tank.
