I agree with Trish, I have submitted loose and even watery stool for a PCR without a problem. If you run a diarrhea PCR panel and it comes up negative the next thing you need to consider is IBD - I've heard it is the most common cause of chronic diarrhea in cats.

I've always wondered- just pondering- if it's actually IBD or is it vets not actually testing for tritrich or sending in the fecal samples as PCR tests. Just have wondered about that before.

I think in some cases it can be TriTrich...in my case, TriTrich was ruled out and Taj was on IBD meds for quite a while. he is now med free and doing well...

There are a lot of things that can cause diarrhea, ask for a PCR which is expensive but will rule out a lot of things that are hard to pinpoint like corona viruses that will cause diarrhea, Tri trick, etc. A change of diet will do that as well but it is better to get the root of the problem so you know how to proceed. There is also IBD, which can cause chronic diarrhea. I am glad your new girl is much more settled. Have you spoken to the breeder? They shouldn't be sending a cat with issues that are undiagnosed and not warn you about them ahead of time? Maybe they would split the cost with you since she came with the problem?
