This is Taboo, my F2 black Savannah who is now retired and lives a spoiled life in PA

A few years ago my (then) breeding partner and I contracted with an exotic animal wrangler to try to import a black male serval from East Africa to see if it would produce black F1s if bred to another black domestic cat, unfortunately he was never able to find one for us (they are mostly found in one area of Kenya but even there are not common).

aahhh, Taboo is spectacular, and love the melanistic serval pic's. Fantastic ears, almost rivaling Rufio's :roflmao:

Patti, I did not know of Taboo. Beautiful. Her black coat keeps her warm in snowy Pa. I am sure.

Wauww, soo beautiful. And so special! They really look like an animal from a movie. It's like every second there can pop wings out the side's and fly away haha.

Do they still live in the wild, manistic servals? Sorry, but since i saw that one picture i'm really intrigued!

Yes, the melanistic servals do exist in the wild but are generally found in the highlands of Kenya and Ethiopia and not down in the plains so they are seldom seen. The belief is that the dark fur provides an advantage because it allows them to stay warmer in the higher altitudes by absorbing the heat of the sun.
