I agree with Brigitte - she needs to be checked at the vet again, and if she is not, should be on antibiotics (I would think this would have been started after the second visit). If she is allergic to the sutures (there is more than one kind) they can use Vetbond, which is a type of super glue for incisions.

Ok, we are home and the vet removed the bottom two stitches, which were kind of a mangled mess. The antibiotic shot they had given her when they patched her up last time is good for 14 days. He sent me home with some antibiotic ointment to apply to the wound daily. I have to bring her back on Friday so he can take another look. He also said 'no more crating', since we suspect this is when she pops the stitches trying to get out.

I also want to say that she was absolutely amazing at the vet's office today. Vivi was super calm while they unwrapped her bandage, cut the bottom two stitches out, and applied the ointment. I'm a proud momma :)

Fingers crossed that this plan works!

Did the vet give any advice or information about helping Vivi with the reaction to reduce inflamation?

My vet once had me try giving a very tiny dose of Children's Benedryl to one of my cats. It was cherry flavored and good gravy the drooling. Looked like something out of a horror movie. The cat didn't like it either. :p

He didn't mention it but I will definitely keep that in mind ;)

She seems ok with everything and is sleeping peacefully now. I'm going to leave her in the bedroom with me tonight and plan to get face attacked by the cone again around 3am, lol. Can't wait to remove it!

Just a little update- removing the stitches and applying the ointment seems to be doing the trick! The hole is slowly closing and it's looking a lot better.

I got the harness from Hyendry today, and put it on Vivi. She seems to think that it is serving the same purpose as the cone lol- she isn't even trying to get to the incision. Watching her closely, but if we are able to keep the harness on instead of the cone for the remaining days, that would be awesome!

Thanks Deborah! I make sure to kiss her as much as possible!

I've also noticed that she likes to be carried around like a baby in my arms, upside down with her head hanging over my arm. So cute!
