I agree, a UTI seems odd for a kitten, especially one on a raw diet. Definitely work on that urine sample for the vet. Often if you take the cat in they can get it direct from kitty...

Thanks Brigitte and DChap!!!

I would take him in although I really wasn't fond of leaving him. The vet's office was also concerned about housing a kitten with Bordetela if I couldn't get a sample and preferring to wait for it as opposed to extracting it. Anyway, I am sure I'll be able to get a urine sample tomorrow morning and then I'll bolt to the vet's office.

OK, I was able to get a urine sample that looks like we need more than just a test, so off to the vet in the morning. He's eating and drinking fine, so not sure what it is. I guess I'll take a look at the adverse reactions for doxycycline to see if that's the culprit.

Here's a picture of the urine sample I was able to get and while it's clearly indicates there's some blood in the urine, it's no where near the red that the image depicts.

Well, you get one of those twisty straws................actually I knew as soon as he heard me cleaning the litter box he would need to get in there to take a leak. So I just held a dixie cup underneath him.

It really isn't that red looking, but definitely darker urine and more brownish than red, like an amber beer.

Also just read the Doxycycline darkens the urine so not quite so panicked. Still going to take the sample into the vet in the morning and see if they will be able to slip him in.

I just need this chapter to be over so I have a portion of my day that's not presenting challenges.

I have to admit I was pretty impressed with my mad skills getting that cup under there as well because my boys aren't leaving any room either.
