I used to do the same thing but later learned that they didn't like their food as much when it was pate. Just the same, I am concerned with the rabbit bones and the seemingly pretty hard shards created by grinding them. However the vet yesterday said the size of the pieces I would be concerned with would easily be identifiable on the X-rays such as when a broken tooth gets caught in the airway or esophagus.

Also please note that it's pretty unlikely that Dino's issues were the result of ingesting anything. The likely culprit is low grade feline asthma which exacerbated secondary issues because he and his brother run around like a couple crazed idiots. Now add in it's full on allergy season and I might as well live in a meadow packed with wildflowers.

While it certainly could be something else, I'm just anxious to get the test reports back so we are continuing down the right path to make him feel better.

Lastly, Dooley picked a fine time to figure out how to open up doors.

Funny how cats can be so different! Ours like their raw better when they can just lick it up and not chew as much. I think my cats are lazy eaters!!

Hope Dino feels better soon and brother Dooley gives him a break!!

So glad it appears that Dino does not have any ingested problems. Hopefully it is a transiet thing and will become less of a problem as he grows.
You and Trish have my prayers. ( Dino too, of course. )

Yes, I'm hopeful that if it is asthma that he will outgrow it. Definitely the worst time of year for such things, and the protocol for treatment is to taper the inhaler off to the lowest effective dose.

Glad to heat he is doing better John. As an asthmatic myself, I will say that there can be far worse conditions to live with than a mild case. Crossing my fingers that it is mild asthma and that he outgrows it.

Thanks Nikkia!

Morning update, we had one episode overnight at 3:45AM. Not really bad but some honking and horfing. Still makes your heart sink to your stomach, but we are headed in the right direction.

At 5AM he woke up to have the magical box open that dispenses food. He ate pretty well, about 5-6 oz. and didn't seem to be finicky about me giving him a mixture of foods. A little bit of cooked chicken mixed with canned 95% EVO, raw rabbit and raw chicken. Typically if I did that he would eat one or two and leave the rest for Dooley to clean up.

Just really anxious to get the test results back and get my handsome boy back to good health.

It's a somewhat slow process and I'm waiting for that horfing free night so I can let him and Dooley have whole house privileges during the day. We also picked up his inhalers today, which he's supposed to start using on Friday. I hope they last a while because they are pretty pricey.

Anyway, here's my golden boy looking out the window at some chipmunks.
