Urine looking the color of beet juice. I'm bummed, while he and Dino are bouncing off the walls like a couple drunken sailors. Maybe time to lock him down?

I don't know why, that's why I had a question mark after it.

Kool aid urine Friday and Saturday morning, goes back to normal by Saturday afternoon. Sunday morning blood emerges, Sunday afternoon it's worse.

The panic button gets pushed on Metacam, read a lot, things are a lot different than a few years ago although I question whether it was the right choice.

Off the Doxycycline for 36 hours and the dry cough and horfing begins again. Shallow breaths and mild panting through the early afternoon while at rest. Mid afternoon the brothers go at it pretty hard and the urine sample appears to be going the wrong direction afterwards.

So yes I'm a bit perplexed as to a course of action, my hearts in my stomach as I care a ton for my boys and I've been ran through the ringer on medical issues over the last month.

Eddies

Eddies a ham!
Playing dislodged a clot, fighting to get out to play would've done it too (at least Eddie fights the crate)...no panic just observe, keep the fluids coming, & inform the vet in the am. The coughing is expected...****Paige or WW? Boiled corn silk for kidney/bladder right?????? No sideeffects, mixed in with (UGHHH) chicken juices....lol. DOES NOT REPLACE ANTIBIOTIC, SYNERGISTIC....http://www.thehonestkitchen.com/articles/urinary-tract-health/ TIGGERS CRYSTALS bloomed a whole new way of looking at food, treats, etc for our family. Oh & that antiinflammatory (that IS related to Naproxen & Ibuprofen.... blood thinners) it truly made sense for the antiinflammatory properties but not the risk that it would thin the blood or decrease the flow to the kidneys.

Wasn't looking to put Dooley in a crate, just perhaps a spare bedroom. They don't ever seem to mind much and can play with each other under the door which is a lot different than pouncing on one another from 4-6' off the ground or full speed tackles that send them both careening off into a wall.

There isn't any evidence of cystitis or crystals, just lots of white blood cells. That any infection shows up while taking 100mg a day of Doxycycline is troubling.

Dooley has been rather subdued this evening, just camping out and watching Dino play fetch. First time that's happened since Dooley came home, and Dino seems to be back to 100%, just needs to put some weight back on.

Doxycycline doesn't treat your typical feline UTI, but could wipe out the normal flora that would otherwise protect Dooley from a UTI, so actually not troubling nor terribly surprising at all... (y)

Tests back on Dooley, nothing growing in the urine culture and the stool sample came back negative as well. The vet did say that they could be false negatives because of the Doxycycline, just not a good way to figure that out.

My vet and I also had a pretty lengthy conversation on the Metacam yesterday and I am going work through the treatment as prescribed. I understand the concerns posted, although we are treating for a very short window and I'm hopeful we'll see some improvement shortly.

Dooley still has blood in his urine this evening but he's not displaying any of the sneezing or coughing. That in itself is a big plus.

Anyway, just hoping this gets better soon. Life is presenting me with more than enough challenges and the two guys who keep a smile on my face need to get back to not worrying about one another and just be kittens.
