Sounds like your hands are full! bless you for having the patience and keeping sanity through this I think everyone will pull through. What is in the enzymes you're giving her? Is it a blockage that's the issue? Food not digesting properly? or bowels not working when stimulated?

We aren't sure of what is causing it yet. It could be as simple as her eating the grasses off of the roses, or renal issues, or an obstruction. The Xrays didn't show any toys in there, but that isn't to say they aren't there. I also gave her dehydrated clams on Saturday, which could have caused it.

We will be looking at renal failure and megacolon etc tomorrow I am sure. She has been dehydrated, but hydrating her isn't pushing everything through.

My saving grace right now is that 85% off, or I would be 100% broke

oh wow. Yes I wish there was a health benefit plan that you could get for pets like health benefits we pay for at work. it would definately help. the exotic vet near my house runs a puppy and cat plan for vaccines and 5-25 testing and meds for a year when you pay like 300-500$ for the plan for one year. but I don't see health issues coming around that often I think betwee the meds and spay and neuter for my buns, testing and meds for my hedgehog before he passed maybe hit 500$ between the past 2 years.

I work at Zeddie's vet, which makes all the difference. To be honest, without the discount I would jump ship and take her to the avian vet. I could have continued the pet insurance with Zeddie, but didn't feel there was a point as it goes up whenever you use it, and I already have a discount. It also doesn't cover much holistic care.

Another update:

Olivher is coming home today, fingers crossed she stays home.

Zeddie went to work with me yesterday for the day. I didn't like the idea of leaving her at home alone for 8 hours without anyone noticing how she was behaving. She had a BM yesterday morning and we got a urine sample on her, and found 2 crystals. She got a shot for them, as we didn't want to stress her intestines out more with oral medication. Her energy was up completely, so it looked like we sorted it all out. Then she puked last night *sigh* I called the vet, and she said that as long as her energy is up I shouldn't be too concerned. She hasn't had a BM since yesterday morning though, so she doesn't have things moving along as well as we hoped.

Looks like she will be spending the day at the vet with me again tomorrow as no one will be home to keep an eye on her...and Olivher will be joining her.

Awww...Kristin...I'm sorry! This happened to one of my cats a long time ago and he was diagnosed with megacolon...not sure that is what is going on with Zeddie, but I would try the digestive enzymes or maybe something like pysillium...

I put the digestive enzymes in her food this morning, but the vet told me not to. I think to tell what is going on...? Not really sure. Ahh....I really really hope it isn't something serious. We haven't done a fecal yet (because there hasn't been much feces) but next time she has a BM I will bring it in for a fecal.

I am seriously hoping we have overlooked something simple. What is interesting is Zeddie was in Olivher's cage before *she* went to the vet...they found bacteria in Olivher's cultures....but Zeddie's bloodwork came back fine. Maybe it is in her stool as well? IDK...

Kristin, remember to talk to your vet about irritable bowel syndrome too. Her symptoms are similar. A change in diet may be all that's necessary. Another culprit to consider is stress. She may be stressed about something that is not obvious to you.

Yes, we've talked about IBD rather than IBS. She mentioned getting her on some probiotics, and she also mentioned a B12 injection. She is eating normal, and I took her off of raw for the time being as the wet is more digestible. She won't eat the EN, but will eat the other canned stuff. I mixed canned and raw this morning, and she ate it all.

There has been more than enough stress to go around here, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if that is a culprit. Sitting at the vet doesn't help her stress levels though, although the Feliway works wonders with her.
