hah, thanks all. Yes Nala is showing us new things daily it seems. Now if we can only get her to stop growling and hissing at the other kitten / adult cats!

Did she spend 2 weeks in an appropriate quarantine and then have a slow introduction to the other cats in the house? If not, that is probably the cause for the hissing and growling.

She is hissing through a door. We have her in our master bedroom with her own toys / cat tree / litter / etc. The other cats will sit at the door and when she knows they are there, she begins her hiss fest / growl fest. We usually keep them separated for a month during their start into introductions with a door separating them.

Sounds like you are doing it right. I wouldn't worry about it for now since they are separated. She's probably not sure who is on the other side of the door and is just trying to sound tough!! Once the first 2 weeks were up with ours we would each get on different sides of the door (just so we could monitor what the cars on either side of the door were doing) and just hold the door open a crack so they could actually see each other while sniffing. At first there were hisses but once that calmed down we let them see each other supervised one at a time.

BTW your girl is VERY pretty! Congrats!

Nala is 10 weeks old as of today. In the photographs she is 9 weeks old (1 week ago to the day).

Yes. We have had success with the whole partly open door but holding back the cats. I tried moving one of the other cats toys in the kitten room with Nala, and she immediately growled and hissed at it. She'll calm down. Lots of new stuff for her going on!
