What helped me narrow my choice down was going to visit two local breeders. One place had very shy cats and the other place had F8s, all were friendly and everything but the mother was also a Bengal... and I was looking for a SV to SV breeding and an earlier generation, all at an affordable price.

Then along came Kronos

I suppose I should just buy an "around the world" plane ticket and stop at every Savannah Cattery and peer at all the babies? ;)

I know what you all mean, I am looking for "the one" but how do you do it, find pictures or how to meet the kits without going insane?

Edit: I think this is the big question...how do you do it? It's not a matter of finding just a single breeder? There are a lot of breeders out there, a lot of kitties, so how do you find the right one? I've already got my mailbox filled with tons of pictures...not that I'm complaining lol

For me, it was seeing a pic of a kitten, whether posted on a yahoo group or breeder's website. In my case, it was seeing a pic, (even when I was not looking for another cat lol) feeling my heart stop, sucking in a breath, and just knowing that baby was meant to be mine :) And waking up during sleep to think about the baby, thinking of names, worrying that someone else had already put a deposit on it before I could contact the breeder....

My suggestion is to look, look, and look some more, at every breeders' websites ( http://www.savannahcat.com/public/index.php ) is a great place to see almost every breeder listing).

Trust me, you will know in your heart and gut when you find that special one :)

I think it is different for everyone...I picked a breeder who was close to me and then chose the kitten that was the largest of the group, wasn't spoken for yet and was very confident and playful. I held him quite a bit, played with him and knew he was the ONE!!!

I chose Zuri because I knew the breeder and wanted a SV that was show quality...this breeder was not close to me, but I saw pictures, parents pictures, spoke to the breeder many times, asked questions, etc.

In my HO..most of the time...a potential customer has his or her sights set on a color pattern, sex and age and look they wish to find.My next question would be...what are your expectations as far as what you desire as far as being a lap cat...or not. Some are cuddlers early on..others are not. You have eliminated a lot of available kittens by just doing this;>) When I am contacted..I ask what their ideal Savannah would be. If I have something that fits the description closely..I will send pictures. I think a lot of really nice babies are passed over at times, but this also is a personal choice. All in all....a lot of prspective owners do not even think about letting a breeder know exactly what they are looking for. There is a kitten that will fill your idea of the dream come true..you just have to let a breedr know what you really expect...in order for you and the right kitten to meet;>) I do let potntial owners know if I think a certain kitten will work well...or not!LOL
