I have never been able to understand parents who take it upon themselves to be so disrespectful and denigrating to their children - apparently they have no idea how destructive this type of behavior can be...

I don't get it either.. I'm not a parent but over the last 5-6 years my dad and I have gone from no relationship, to good, to worse and back again.. He has always had a hard time having a good relationship with his significant other and me and my brother at the same time. Very weird. I'm hoping everything calms down when I move out on my own. Sadly I can't wait because when we do cross paths at home now it's almost awkward. His fiancé and I are 6 years apart and I still can't get used to that! But coming home to my kitties cuddles make it all worth it! they're my heart and soul!

I know...my dad is extremely judgemental, so we stopped telling him things. I have been doing reiki courses and animal communication courses for 2 years and he has no idea...to the point where I have started a business.

My sister just adopted a kitty yesterday and we specifically did not tell him about it...but he logged onto my mom's facebook and saw the pictures. He then proceeded to talk all night of how stupid my sister is for adopting another cat. When I pointed out we don't tell him anything because he is so judgemental he just grunted and walked away

But he doesn't view animals as beings, only as things. He doesn't even know I'm an animal communicator

a parent that doesnt know important things about their children isnt much of a parent imo...as an adult i dont have the greatest relationship with mine just for these reasons...and for many years i had no relationship w them. Talking about your little girl to you like that is emotional abuse imo.
