Hahahaha - yeah we know...it's fun to make him work for it though. I always feel too cheap if I give in right away. It's amazing how popular I get when there are toys and food to be had.

The F5 seems to be on a 4 hour play schedule but the calm treats seem to help quite a bit.

My F7 is extremely talkative and was at night. I would wear him out but then a few hours later he would get the crazies again and wake me up to just chat with him. I ended up using calming treats from petco - they are all natural and safe. So our routine would be play, eat, play again, have a treat and sleep. The treats helped him get on my schedule. Now he's ready for bed before I am, hahaha - and I better not dare disturb him, lol.

What is the actual name of the treat, the brand name from Petco. My friend tried two different types. One Athena will not touch, and the other she attempted to eat it several times but it seemed gummy so she spit it out. thanks.

Petco Complete Pet Care Chicken Calming Aid Cat Chews. Yep DChap, those are the ones. They sell them at Amazon too. My friend tried two different kinds. Naturevet and from PetValu. The petvalu ones she attempted to eat them but they seemed gummy, and was at for quite a while, so she never ate them, and tried another day and Athena had the same issue, couldnt seem to eat them even after trying. The Naturevet, she wouldnt even touch, smelled them and ran. She hid them in her favorite wet food, and ran again in the other direction.

Perhaps the point is they spend so much energy chewing on the darned things that they forget about their anxieties and other issues!

Both of mine leave the room we're all hanging out in (eg: living room) and will go upstairs and start meowing very loudly at random times...they have a set of lungs on both of them.

I have determined recently that it could mean "give me fresh dry food"....but I don't understand why they go upstairs instead of coming to me and meowing.

Both cats understand "go night nights" and that means it's time to stop playing and get situated on or near the couch (I sleep on the couch due to back issues).

We have a tabby that does this. Usually it's within an hour of heading to bed. Sometimes later. He walks the house howling and meowing. Usually we can call out his name and he will stop. We think it's for the fact that he forgets we are there. Though who knows. I have been sneaky enough to get up out of bed and watch him while does it. He does it while carrying one of his pillows. Then gives a deer on headlights look when he sees I'm watching. But, never fails almost every night he roams the halls howling

He might just be a very chatty cat. Or he could be hungry. Or, it could just be his way of burning off that hunting energy that cats have. Most often, they will get the zoomies and run around the house like mad. Try leaving a radio on low to see if that helps.

One thing -- he is training you and your wife. You might want to reconsider giving him attention when he yowls because by doing that, you are reinforcing the behavior.

Interesting you say that....I live in a 2 story townhouse apartment.

My home office is upstairs.

I work in my home office in the day time.

Whenever I go up stairs and random times of the day, the little one starts to "talk" like crazy.

If he's upstairs with me and I go downstairs for whatever reason, he does the same thing.

I too thought it was because he forgot I was there.

The big cat, is different. He will just walk up and down the steps singing a song.


My neighbors hate me and give me dirty looks as the walls are paper thin and the cats have a loud set of lungs on them.
