Now Presenting: Yuki and Yeti

Hey Trish, sorry, been busy. They're doing as well as can be expected. Yuki is weathering the storm without any sign of infection while Yeti has bald spots in a number of areas.

My order of stuff from Hyendry arrived, but can't be introduced until this mess is resolved.

Ordered some foggers and spray that Paige pointed out so hopefully sooner rather than later things will settle down and I can let the cats get to know each other.

Good thing is- adults tend to be less likely to break with it then youngsters, so fingers crossed Yuki doesn't get it at all!

Oooh- new goodies! Well, it will mean you'll have a good stash when you break them out later!

Ringworm- btw- looks a lot worse when you first start treatment- so don't let it get you down. Means you are on the right track!

"Where does he get all those wonderful toys?" - the Joker

So I go in to feed and visit the kitties this morning and notice a toy I had not provided in the room, and already partially destroyed. Must have been in the carrier they arrived in under the bit of cloth that lined the bottom. That makes three such mystery toys since arrival. Unless of course these are magic toy-crapping cats.

I was contacted by another customer of A1 who received kittens at the same time. Hers had Ringworm and one had to be force fed and given subcutanious fluids.

I have emailed A1 to let them know of the problem.

I'm sure they are very well aware of the problem. :cautious:

I haven't been able to spend as much time, aside from feeding and treating, with the kitties as I would have liked the last few days so tonight I made a little extra time to hang out with them.

They are quite a happy couple of critters. Yuki still grooms me a bit, but not the complete slobber-fest like before. Yeti is very forgiving of the annoyance from the treatment and within a few seconds is right back to playing or coming to hang out. Tonight he jumped up to join Yuki on my shoulders for a bit. He must be starting to feel better because the treatment doesn't seem to sting as much as it first did based on how he reacts to the application of the ointment.

I've been allowing the cats to view each other through a crack in the door briefly each evening and it looks like Paz is getting over the scared silliness from the accidental meeting he and Yuki had previously. Yeti is fearless and keeps trying to come out to play with Paz. I won't let them make contact until the ringworm issue is over, but at least he is trying to reach out with his paws to play. Yuki still hisses a little, but more now she is making her sheep/goat meow.

More fun than a barrel of monkeys.

I have been having more fun with paper bags and the SVs. I can place the paperbag completely over either of them without any panic or resistance from them. A period of silence and then the amusement begins.

With Yeti I left his tail sticking part way out from under the bag and he broke the silence by attacking his tail from under the bag and eventually knocked the bag and himself over while trying to drag his errant tail in with him.

With Yuki she was completely encased until eventually she stretched those amazingly long front legs out from beneath like the monster under the bed trying to frighten a toddler. Then Yeti pounced and over they all went.

Now I have placed a ball into a sturdy old chocolates box and they seem occasionally intrigued enough to play with the box.

Wet Kitty 2 - Yeti's Second bath.

Bathed the little spinning death-blade dispenser again tonight. Luckily I avoided shedding blood, mine.

Yeti meows plaintively during what to him are the worst parts of this procedure and of course the super-protective Yuki yowls to try and call him. I finished rinsing him off and bundled him into my shirt to warm up and dry a bit. He stopped his complaints and went right to purrs. Meanwhile Yuki continues calling.

Paz happened to be in the hallway and decided to investigate the bathroom while I was going to return Yeti to the sanctum of the safe room. Wouldn't ya know it, Yuki, focused entirely at kitten level darts past and goes searching. She rushed into the bathroom, stands next to and ignoring Paz while looking frantically for Yeti.

I was expecting a repeat panic and so was Paz apparently. He lets out a little meow that had all the makings of "am I going to be clobbered?" and a very preoccupied Yuki pauses just long enough to let loose a soft, very brief dismissive hiss sort of saying "stow it tubby". Paz did move to the top of the steps, but stopped to see what came next.

Despite my trying to show Yeti to Yuki, she was too mission oriented and went next to the master bedroom before I could finally get hand on enough to pick her up face to face with the kitten. She then ceased all struggles to search on and relaxed.

Very dedicated these two are to one another.

PS - Yeti now meows a little if he hears me outside the safe room door and he wants to hang out.

TGIF. More time to work around the house and spend quality time with the cats this weekend.

Yuki is a very fast learner. She now knows the doorknob is what I touch to open the door. I was about to leave the safe room and as I stood there she reached up and touched the doorknob and looked at me as if to ask, can we go out into the hall?

The little rascals turned my wet/dry vac completely upside down. And they disconnected the hose from it again.
