Well unfortunately since she just received nasal vaccinations you cannot run an upper respiratory disease PCR on her which is what I would normally recommend, because it will turn up positive. The sneezing is definitely bothersome, as bothersome as the breeder's vaccination protocol. However, let me assure you that URDs rarely lead to death, but on occasion they can lead to chronic health problems.

Having said that, there are many URDs that are not vaccinated for so a PCR should still be considered in case she has a bacterial infection that can be successfully treated with antibiotics (none of the diseases that are treated by vaccination can be treated with any type of antibiotic). I think at this point in time you need to sit back and see what happens, and talk to your vet when she gets her second set of vaccinations to see what his/her recommendation is. I definitely would not use a nasal vaccinations as they are known to have only short acting effectiveness, whereas the injectable (whether it be killed virus or modified life) provides long acting protection.

Another thing you might consider, what perfumes, body soaps, lotions, shampoo's do you use. Seems that the sneezing happened after all the "found my true Love" bounding began. So possibly, something in her new environment is giving her the fits and sneezes.

Just saying, it could be something minor and simple, and mom's freaking out a bit, kind of thing. Heck, know I would. Check all the place she likes to snuggle and sleep. Do you have any goose down pillows, comforters, or the like???

Thanks patti, I was reading a bunch on the heska nasal vaccine for cats and it said a common side affect was sneezing and mild upper respiratory symptoms that can last up to a week after the vaccine. If this sneezing is lasting into next week or seems to be getting worse I will have the pcr done at her 2nd checkup. I am not opposed to injectable vaccines and honestly didn't even know there was a nasal one... From what I read it is fast acting, but interesting that it doesn't last as long.

Dice, I thought it was fire smoke that she was allergic to at first, but that is long gone now so it can't be it.... I will definitely look into laundry detergent and pillows if she doesn't get any better by the end of the week.

It sounds like a side effect of the nasal vaccine... I am pretty shocked that a breeder would give a vaccine the same day you take home the kitten... And a nasal vaccine, which as Patti said has a short acting effectiveness... Also kittens are stressed by leaving the only how they have known and going to a new home so why would someone stress the immune system anymore by giving a vaccine at the same time? In any case, as others have said, keep an eye on her... Hopefully it is just vaccine side effects and all the sneezing will stop

Paige, I was pretty shocked too... You should have seen my face when I asked for the vaccine records and she said ,'well I'm gonna do that right now'... It was pretty much pure panic. She is still sneezing some, definitely a lot less, but today when she sneezed I saw a yellow booger, and her nose seems to be a bit runny but she is acting just fine, no eye discharge or anything. Eating, drinking, playing, and using litterbox just fine. Her 2nd vet appointment is now in 2 weeks, so unless she starts exhibiting other symptoms I am gonna hold off until her 2nd vet visit. Don't want to make her even more stressed with that many vet visits. I did start today giving her a squirt of colloidal silver in her water, as I know that it can't hurt.
