I was watching a nature show recently on leopards. The photographers had been following several for a couple of years. When they zoomed in on the kittens, they noted markings for future sightings. I was impressed that they noticed that one little girl had a small freckle spot in her whisker area on one side. That was how they kept track of her!

We have a little guy who doesn't see all that well (Mickey) and believe me it doesn't stop him!
The only problem is heme we move nicknacks around... So we don't
IMHO, even a blind kitten wouldn't worry me- my visually challenged guy is just fine, very happy and well adjusted, and I'd be shocked if he has any idea we (me and the vet) think he does not see well. He thinks he is just fine

Rafiki, that is cool that thy noticed such a small detail !! I love watching nature documentaries, and I am always amazed how they identify those animals from a distance.
NikkiA, that is so good to hear that your savannah has no problems even though he can't see really well. Now that I know the picture is from when she was younger , I am not worried about it , but yes even if she was blind it would not effect me getting her. It is just something at first that you think would be really difficult and need lots of attention so they wouldn't run into things, but after what you said it doesn't sound like a problem at all. Blind kitties need a home too .

gorgeous girl, reminds me a lot of my f3, Far as the eyes go, pics don't show their true color, because her eyes will reflect the surrounding colors. Sometimes Spot's eye's are blue, sometimes they're true green all depends where the photo was taken and the surrounding colors
Main thing to do, when receiving a kit, is to schedule 2-4 days for primary bounding. With both my Savannah's, I took 4 days off, just to bond with them, did nothing but cuddle play and eat with them each, for 4 days straight. As a result, have bonded so tight with both, it's hard to express the bond we share.

Dice, Spot is soooo adorable!! I am picking my kitten up on a Saturday and plan to spend all day Saturday and Sunday bonding with it. I will also have a 4 day weekend the next week where i can stay with her almost the whole time. I hope this is enough time. Thank you for your advice!

aharter, We picked up Rafiki on a Thursday and took Friday off so that we would have 3 straight days with her. We also worked from home as much as we could during her quarantine. She stayed in our master bedroom and we would take turns sleeping in the den with Jammu, our other kitten, so that he would not get jealous. She bonded well with us and introductions went smoothly.

Well we don't have another pet so I don't have to worry about introductions, but my plan is to have her stay in the master bedroom where we sleep for 2 weeks depending on how confident she is. During the evening before i go to bed I was going to have her hangout wherever I am (like in the living room) and be completely supervised. Maybe I will try to pick her up Friday evening so I can have all weekend. Or do what you did rafiki , try to get that Friday off and go up Thursday. It's a 3hr drive one way, so here is my next question. On the way home would it be better to hold her and play with her a bit or should I keep her in her cat carrier the whole time? It will be almost a 3 hr drive. I know I am going to want to hold her but I want what will be best and less stressful for her. Also I won't be driving lol, so I will have all my hands free. Do you think this sounds like a good plan?
