Optionsplus.com cat enclosure

At this time, I am out roughly $1500. I did put it on a credit card so there is a very good chance that I will get my $ back.....but I really, really wanted that enclosure.

I really liked how Optionsplus had powder-coated structures and a modular design. The modular design was nice in that if I chose to expand it in the future, I could just add to it. Also, with the way that the panels were built, it was really easy to add shelves to it. Also, we were buying a 12' wide x 8' long x 7'2" tall enclosure custom made to fit our area at a very reasonable price.

Most of the other ones we have looked at had things we weren't fond of. Some used PVC as the support structure and Rafiki is much too bitey for me to want to have a material like that at her disposal. And of course, it is very hard to find one the size we want below $4k. Even at that price, the product wasn't either powder coated or modular.

At this point, I think that we are headed to Home Depot this weekend to look at materials and figure out what we can build. We did most of the house projects ourselves with the exception of the kitchen (including pouring a new floor and raising the ceiling along with all new cabinets, appliances, windows, etc.) and the deck (~1400 square feet at 5 different elevations). I did design both of these however. I am an engineer even if I seldom get to do anything close to engineering or designing at work these days.

So, who knows? Ideally, Optionsplus will contact us and tell us that our enclosure is on it's way. Otherwise, I think that we may end up building this ourselves. Thanks for all the great advice and support.....I will keep you posted!

And thanks Paige for the link to C&D. I have never heard of them before. I think that our choices are 1. Get the Options Plus enclosure 2. Build it ourself and 3. Purchase thru C&D.

Linda if you opt not to do it yourself, Scott will customize for you...I saw one on his site that was 12x10x8 for less than $2400...and you can add on to his as well

You know, the more I look at C&D, the more I like them. I have sent an inquiry regarding price and delivery time. We might be able to build it ourselves for less but our free time is limited and I really want our fur-monsters to have more outdoor time as soon as possible.

Wow......I was just checking out the Better Business Bureau. Along with the complaints of non-delivery levied at OptionsPlus, they have had 88 inquiries in the last 30 days. Most seem to be in the last 2 weeks.

I have left messages for them via email and Facebook. (BTW, it is really weird that the last time they posted on FB, it was August 14th and they were advertising a special for a small enclosure and the following Monday they stopped answering the phone.) I would have left messages via IM (disconnected) and phone (inbox full) if I were able. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and they have forwarded the complaint to Optionsplus.

How long should I wait before contacting my credit card company and asking them to step in?

Should I proceed with something else or give them more time to respond? I would hate to either start building my own or ordering one from C&D just to have OptionsPlus suddenly honor their obligation.

Linda. I think you have been nice enough. There should be no reason to make a customer (s) wait this long without any contact. I am sorry that is has happened, but that is a load of $$. And your kitties are waiting...

Dont wait any longer it sounds as though there is enough evidence that all is not well with the company and you need your money back. I hope that you get things sorted quickly. And that you find someone else to do your enclosure soon

I contacted my credit card company and requested a refund for non-delivery of goods. I also sent a formal email to OptionsPlus notifying them that I had done so and canceling my order. UGH! I wanted to be setting up the enclosure this weekend, not writing hate-mail!
