At this time, I am out roughly $1500. I did put it on a credit card so there is a very good chance that I will get my $ back.....but I really, really wanted that enclosure.
I really liked how Optionsplus had powder-coated structures and a modular design. The modular design was nice in that if I chose to expand it in the future, I could just add to it. Also, with the way that the panels were built, it was really easy to add shelves to it. Also, we were buying a 12' wide x 8' long x 7'2" tall enclosure custom made to fit our area at a very reasonable price.
Most of the other ones we have looked at had things we weren't fond of. Some used PVC as the support structure and Rafiki is much too bitey for me to want to have a material like that at her disposal. And of course, it is very hard to find one the size we want below $4k. Even at that price, the product wasn't either powder coated or modular.
At this point, I think that we are headed to Home Depot this weekend to look at materials and figure out what we can build. We did most of the house projects ourselves with the exception of the kitchen (including pouring a new floor and raising the ceiling along with all new cabinets, appliances, windows, etc.) and the deck (~1400 square feet at 5 different elevations). I did design both of these however. I am an engineer even if I seldom get to do anything close to engineering or designing at work these days.
So, who knows? Ideally, Optionsplus will contact us and tell us that our enclosure is on it's way. Otherwise, I think that we may end up building this ourselves. Thanks for all the great advice and support.....I will keep you posted!
