Outside time, panting

I don't think there are lung issues from the difference in gestation, I take it your Savannah is an F1 then? Generally if they make it, then their lungs had developed just fine... maybe he's just different from being individual just like all of us people don't react the same?

I started posting and then my message disappeared so hopefully I'm not duplicating myself! I have seen Savannahs pant sometimes when they get excited or overstimulated. If your boy is not used to being outdoors that may be all that is going on. Alternatively, not knowing where you live or how hot it is there, it could be that he is just not acclimated to the temperature outside and so pants when he is in a warmer environment.

Worst case scenario he might have a heart problem (heart problems are not common in Savannahs, but shortness of breath is common in heart problems) in which case a vet should be able to pick up on it with close examination. I do think though that if he appears to recover as soon as he goes indoors then it is probably not too serious. However, if you are like me and overly cautious it wouldn't hurt to have him evaluated by a vet, if for nothing else than for your own peace of mind...

I am not concerned, more curious than anything. He will chase bugs endlessly, and shows no sign of distress or fatigue. He is a rescue, feedback on pics was F4 or F5, but that's irrelevant to us.
Thanks for the input. I see it's not uncommon, so no worries.
