What hurts the most are falls from short heights because they are not able to adjust quickly and get their bodies and limbs into position. The chin is held aloft as best as possible. Going down stairs is not going to be a major issue, but following something blindly if it passes through the rails might cause an issue. There are thankfully things that can be done to prevent this such as careful tosses (rolling along the ground, flying low) and not throwing things high and getting bounces. I would also consider the surface they will land on, is it carpet, tile or wood? Something with more cushion will help if they do make that 4-6ft leap after something.
