Pondering F2 or F6 kitten...

Agreed on all counts and I kind of already made up my mind to go with Shelby and more recently my decision was reaffirmed when I got word that someone just put a deposit on Belle Hollow kitten so she's no longer available. I spoke with Shelby and will mail the deposit on Monday so needless to say I'm excited. I think timing is just perfect since I will be done with my contract on April 8 (there's a very small chance they may extend it - they did it 4 times already but I do need some time off from work). My next contract will likely come sometime in May so I'd be home full time and the kitten won't be left alone for the first few weeks.

Once again thanks for educating me on various things and I will be sure to share pictures after the kitten arrives in her new home (around second week of April). I'll need to come up with a name.

Congratulations Els. You can pass some of the time waiting for your kitten to arrive by buying toys and kitten-proofing the house. That should take care of at least a week, lol. Looking forward to seeing pictures.

Of course! Here's a picture...I asked Shelby to send me new pictures over the next few weeks. I've started looking at flight options and will be ordering Sherpa pet carrier tomorrow.

Let me know what I need to do in terms of kitten-proofing? I plan to keep the kitten in my bedroom for the first few weeks. I will have to put pictures and fragile items away. I don't have any cords in the bedroom / bathroom except the lamps on nightstands. Only a few inches of the cords are exposed.

Also, what dry / wet food do you recommend? I've always given my cats high quality premium food - Evo and wellness but Misty had IBD so we have to change diet to Royal Canin and Jake liked it. Not sure I should change his diet given his age. I will ask Shelby what type of food she uses to feed the kitten and make sure I have them and depending on the ingredients I may switch to another brand. Nothing but the best for her.

I will be ordering cat wheel as well and look into replacing the cat treehouse. Any recommendations?

Beautiful kitten! You should keep the kitten on the same food that Shelby is feeding for at least a few weeks and switch over slowly... Go cat wheel is one of the sponsors of this forum...i have seen their wheels and put them together and highly recommend them...

She's cute! You can already see the "I'm the boss of you" attitude in her little face.
I use these cord covers. cord cover.jpeg You can find them at Lowe's, Home Depot, Amazon. I recommend covering all cords if she's a chewer. People have had success with black pepper sprinkled near cords, Bitter Apple or other nasty tasting spray, chili spray. But those things have to be reapplied to stay effective. Of my 4 SVs only one chews electrical cords and I purchased literally hundreds of feet of the split flexible tubing. Better that than an electrocuted cat.

I fully agree with Witchy. I lost a cat years ago due to cord chewing. Very sad and not a pretty thing.

She is aadorable! Any name yet?

I just (finally) put together the Go Cat Wheel (who is one of our forum sponsors so gives us a discount) today and the cats are loving it. I don't have a One Fast Cat Wheel to compare it to, but it is bigger than the Cat Wheel Co. wheel, and was fairly easy to put together.
