It means the skin was pulled off the tail and there was only a tip of bone- that's what it means. It can happen if they get caught in the door or other silliness. Thankfully, Saga didn't even really fret about it- if she was a human, she would have been bawling on the floor. As a SV, she was like, "OUCH- wait, what's that over there to play with?"

WOW! I cringe just thinking about it. Thank God your baby is taking it well! She sounds like a real trooper...

Skinned would mean she only had a tip of bone sticking out. Had to cut back three bone and sew a flap of skin over to close it off.
