No polyp, No obstruction, and all signs of swelling have come down. She is hardly coughing now.
WE will keep treating Pneumonia, probably aspiration pneumonia. Hoping not asthma, but still a possibility.
BUT - Apparently had a hard time waking up from anesthesia, Dr said what should have taken minutes actually took hours! I believe she said propofol and fentanyl in very small dose, enough for only a few minutes. Could be the liver is not metabolizing toxins. So now she is concerned that there may be issue of “liver shunt” It does maybe explain very low body weight, and a few other things, But I cant help fear, we are in a maze.
At least this test is simple blood test and can be performed at our regular vets. And surgery to correct while not typical in cats, is not unusual.
Good news is Anaya is returning to her playful self, we have so missed her spunk!

Very glad that she is doing better and hope she continues to improve. If it is a liver shunt then I hope the surgery is possible and successful...it sounds like you feel overwhelmed, and rightly so, but it also sounds like you have a good vet involved which is great!

Yes, we too are praying that it is not a liver shunt. Maybe it was just more of the difficulties with intravenous anesthesia? Doesn’t this seem plausible? Not just wishful thinking? I mean at a bit over 7lbs and such a picky eater she is much smaller then littermate…. but how big does she need to be to be considered healthy?

Also, Ive been wondering, how concerned I should be about this “failure to thrive” direction? How much of a weight variation in kittens from a same litter is normal? And is 7.5 lbs at 9 mos old a weight to be concerned about?
She is super finicky, but I have been able to get her tho eat something several times a day. It is getting exhausting, and expensive. Although, I hate to complain, this week I have found two rather healthy (I think) commercial brands that she isnt turning her nose to; Primal freeze dried raw (chicken & salmon) & Tiki Cat (chicken) Before she got sick, I was feeding her Nature Variety frozen Raw patties… But she seems to have tired of them. And If this is a “liver shunt” here I am choosing these all meat foods… thereby creating more of a problem…. But, I just dont feel ready to put either of us through the stress of the testing process right this week. Even though, I think it is just a 12 hour fasting blood test and then eating then another blood test. So what are your thoughts?
