Yep, Trish and I stayed up playing with Dino until 2:30AM. He wasn't ready to sleep but we called it quits. So I slept in the bed with him and sure enough he starts tearing around like an idiot at 4:30AM. I pulled the blankets up over my head for some rudimentary protection and he blanket dived and serval pounced until I surrendered at 8AM.

Of course none of this means he's hungry or ever wanting of a nap, as he turned up his nose at his breakfast and any efforts to get him to lie down.

I kept thinking I never had this issue with Monte or Chongo, but then recalled they weren't in a bed during their first two weeks.

Anyway, I'm sure we're not to far away from getting the sleep schedule sorted out and just need to make sure he's occupied all day.

He will calm down John. You are still new to him. He loves you and as a VERY enegetic F1 SV, he just wants to be interacting with you all the time. When he matures a little more he will see your need for sleep. He is, after all, still a little guy. And a super cute one, at that
You will need to learn a whole new personality. He is different...be open to those vast differences.

But I don't need to tell you that. Sheesh. Dumb me.

Thanks Cary!

It was two weeks before we ever saw Chongo with his eyes closed and then he passed out upside down wedged between a chair cushion and the chair back. Had to keep checking to see if he was alive because he had finally hit the wall and slept for more than 8 hours.

I'm sure the same will hold true for Dino, just never had the 24 hour exposure to an SV kitten through the acclimation period.

Permit me to gloat -- Atticus adjusted to our sleep schedule by the 3rd night. Aaaaand, he adjusted to being moved from the master bedroom suite to the office in about 5 seconds. He does love to play and has his 2x a day zoomies where he bounces off the walls. Between those times, he plays like a gentleman and when we're not with him, he either entertains himself or naps.

When I was trying to get him to sleep through the night, we'd have a monster play session between 8-9 p.m. and then he'd have a little snack and he'd curl up with me at 10 and sleep through till 6.

John, are you and Trish leaving him on his own throughout the day? If so, do you know what he does when you're not with him?

He's had about a 4-5 hour daily stint of being by himself this week. Of course that wasn't the case on Thursday with his vet appointment nor yesterday when at least one of us was home with him. We go at it pretty hard from roughly 8-11PM each night, although we assuredly tire before he does.

I know that when he is left to his own devices he gets some shut eye. He doesn't have full run of the house yet, so maybe when he gets released from his current bounds he'll tire a little more. He's always at the door by the twist of the doorknob or when he first hears you approaching he is up and ready to go. Outside of that, he will sit on the window sill and watch the birds and chipmunks.

All good, just a little tired.

When Atticus still wants to play and I'm tuckered out, I lay on the floor with a toy in each hand and flick the toy so he jumps over me and I don't have to do anything but move my wrists:roflmao: It's the lazy person's method. After few minutes of vaulting over me, he's winded and ready for a rest. Sometimes we both stay on the floor for a nap. He is very good at reminding me that I'm getting old…..

What ?? You mean that is not the preferred way of playing?????

At least he tires. Kilifi will be panting so hard I get concerned. But will she stop? Noooooo... more daddy MORE!!!
And Honey, I'm way older than you, I am sure. ;)

I'm rolling with a similar course of action, I lay in bed he brings me his monkey and I toss it across the room. Funny thing is his legs go 4 different directions when he lands but never thinks twice about it before take off.

At sue's place he was the first of the kittens to be fully engaged in play but was also the first to show fatigue. I'll just need to keep running him hard until he falls in line or leave him sleep by himself.
