Purina Friskies canned cat food

I do feed Friskies canned Pate once or twice a week; some weeks not at all, and never more than one day in a row. It is the only canned food I have tried that all of my cats will eat and can tolerate easily, and new moms, who are sometimes reluctant to eat or drink after giving birth, will always eat the Friskies. Most of the higher end, better quality canned foods will make two of my cats vomit and some will not eat it at all. My kitties generally get raw on most days/nights, and dry---Taste of the Wild or other grain-free dry---left out to free feed.

I don't believe Friskies is the worst food a cat can eat. For picky eaters (and I have one)...sometimes it is more important that they ARE eating...I know of other breeders who also feed Friskies canned for the same reasons. Easily tolerated, tasty to most cats....

I feed canned along with the raw, since I have had a few kitten customers who will not feed raw, and I want my babies to be used to eating canned if that will be the case in their new homes. I send home a two-week supply of Friskies canned pate with each kitten, so new owners can transition to the canned of their choice, or continue a raw and dry food diet.

The one downside to canned Friskies is that when I am gone for a few days and leave the care and feeding of our cats to my significant other...who does not like to handle raw meat...I have him feed the cats the canned Friskies for those few days...the smell of their poop is sooo much stronger than when they are eating raw most week days!

Just my 2 outside cats eat Friskies...Sometimes I give them the expensive stuff too for a treat, they seem to like anything! My savannah eats the more expensive canned and kibble. I see that Friskies puts fish in their canned food also, I seen it in the ingredients and I can smell it too, I heard to much fish might not be good for cats! Friskies does have the biggest variety of flavors to pick from but I know it isn't the best!;) My savannah doesn't like raw food either...maybe because he's used to the better flavors in the can food.

Yes it was, he is fine now...3 months of a special kitty food from the vet, no treats, & Tigger was fed in a crate while everyone else ate...needless to say he lost weight but once his urine was clear of crystals for a month he was allowed to transition back to Blue/Raw & gets checked for urinary health... doing fine but scary for a day of bloody urine that crystallized when it dried (all over the house cause he stopped using the litter box)...he's back to using the box now too. He n Trooper share their own house with Troopers owner but I pay all vet bills.

Cat's can get urine crystals from anything....can't blame it on Friskies....my outside cats been eating it for 5 years and they are healthy so far! ;)
