Rafiki not eating

Thanks everyone. The vet drew blood and gave her some fluids. We will have the liver related results in the morning. We also did a panel for IBS while we were drawing blood and those results will be back next week.

I hate to sound negative, but this sounds too familiar... Ask the vet to check the Kidney's... Continuing to send prayers...

All liver counts were normal and showed further improvement from the blood work 2 weeks ago. The original ultrasound and biopsy had been inconclusive but both the vet and the internal specialist are now saying that this is even more indicative that elevated liver enzymes in mid-May were a result of her not eating and not liver disease. We had originally been told to continue the liver meds for an additional 2 months but as a result of these tests we have been instructed to just finish what we have - 3 days worth of one and 12 of the other. She pee'd right before we brought her to the vet so her bladder was empty and they could not do a urine sample.

She is much more alert today and played both last night and this morning. She was very enthusiastic about eating the pill pocket, kitty crack and duck heart but not happy about her food. She ate about 2 oz off my finger. Jammu was also not enthusiastic. His morning meal was only 1/3 ground and he loves his chunks of meat so he eventually ate it. This batch of ground is 2 weeks old and the issue only started with the last 2 containers. I am wondering if I did not do a great job mixing the supplements and if these containers might have more and therefor taste "off" to them. The DocRoy's has liver flavor added and I know that both my cats hate liver. I will make another batch today and I am switching to Mazuri. I also bought some fish oil capsules and will experiment with that as well.

I'm assuming you keep it in the freezer until ready to use?

And I know with my SV bunch, we prepare a big batch of raw and there are always some containers they just don't eat as good as the rest. I think the same thing that maybe we don't mix the supplements as well with the big batches. Hopefully Rafiki starts eating again soon!!

Yes, I store it in the freezer in 8-10 oz containers. It is amazing how much of the freezer is devoted to kitty food between the ground and the chunks!

LOL! Sounds familiar. We have a whole extra fridge downstairs to store our frozen ground raw and the rabbits waiting to be made into ground raw.

Ugh, Rafiki is certainly giving you a run for your money! Prayers that her health and appetite stabilizes and improves.

Hmmm, I gave up on storage containers long ago for storing raw in the freezer as I can get so much more in using freezer bags. The boys are eating 2-3 lbs a day, and when we grind their food we usually do 60-70 lbs.

Also glad to hear Rafiki didn't have any liver issues.
