I've met trouble and he looks like he should weigh twice what he does. Such a beautiful animal.

And that is exactly how they should be. If you see a Serval you think they should weigh more than they do... but most are 30-40 lbs. When a cat is tall and long and lean they should look like they would weigh more than they do. And isn't that the best way to have them? Much easier when you have to carry them, LOL!

Duma was weighed today at 7.3 lbs. He's an F3 and just a week over 6 months. Maybe it puts him on the small side or average, but either way I'm happy with his size, as long as he stays his lovey-dovey self.

If he's lanky and leggy then that's a perfectly good weight I tend to think a pound a month for the first year is good... which is pretty much what my first F2 male did. He's never weighed more than 13lbs and I think was only ~11lbs at a year old.

I also would like to compare your cats with my - it's interesting for me...
may be it will be interesting for you:
Ambiente male (F5) 1 year - 17,6lbs; 2 years - 17,5 (but more bigger! )
Diamond female (F2) 1 year - 17,6 lbs ( but look more bigger or may be the same size like Ambiente) the last half year she was pregnant all the time and I don know your weight
Iris female, their daughter (F3) 4 months - 4,4 lbs

It seems there must be 1 or 2 very large savannahs out there that have gone to many shows, and have appeared in many photos and Youtube videos. I say this because it seems the general consensus is that savannahs must be large cats, the size of a golden retriever. Almost everyone who calls us thinks that they will be getting a savannah cat that is the size of their ancestors the serval! I am so glad to see that most other breeders have the same size savannahs that we do. It is also possible that because of the fictitious size that people think savannahs are, this is the very thing that may get savannahs banned. Somehow the actual size of a savannah should become publicized. Yes, some can become quite large, but most are the size that is quoted above, if not smaller.

What weight and generation are your savannah cats?

That is very true, Alison! I don't know how many times I have to explain to people that savannahs, are for the most part, perhaps a bit larger than a DSH or about the same size...and that few are "huge"...what hurts us are the websites guaranteeing a size of 30-35 pounds, websites claiming all the savannahs bred reach 25 pounds, etc. And then the websites talking about wild and exotic...savannahs are domestic and not exotic...this sensationalism is literally going to ruin it for all of us in the long run Pretty soon we are going to run out of places to live in the US, where our savannahs are legal.

For those of us fighting the battle to keep our savannahs legal, it becomes disheartening after awhile. What is going to happen eventually is there will be no F1's or F2's that are legal.

So Taj = F6 SBT - 15 pounds - long and lean
Zuri - F4 SBT - 8.5 pounds when not pregnant - as tall as Taj

Tojo= F4B - 7.5 months - 9.4 lbs but still looks small to me because he is long and lean. When he sits he has a huge round in his back. Maybe his legs haven't caught up with his torso length yet.

Has there been 1 single case reported of a Savannah of any generation attaching someone? If not they should just leave us the F**K alone.
How can they ban something that hasn't even hurt anyone.
