John, Trish, and his family are in my thoughts and prayers this week. I am very sorry to hear this devastating news :(

I just spoke to John and he is extremely upset, although he says he is doing ok...his house structure is still there, but the entire insides are gone...he will not be able to go back, nor does he want to. He will have to live in a hotel for a while...

I will let him speak for himself when he can, but I know he really appreciates what everyone has done for him - when I told him, that is when he became really emotional.

Thanks again everyone - the money is really going to help him right now - can't say enough about how our community and family here has been so awesome!!!

Thank you for the update Paige. Please let us know what else we can do. If Trish is in the burn unit, I know that treatment can be very steep. . . is there an account we can contribute to that would be tax free to them for her medical care?
Also, if John has to stay at a hotel, I know that I for one have cc points that can be converted to gift cards for hotels. If we were to try to do something like that, would you be willing to tell us what chain he would need the credit at (not a hotel name just an overarching affiliation, ie marriott or starwood) and serve as a collection point? I hope he will get something through insurance, but that is usually a long and painful road.

Hi Nikki, Trish was not burned and should be out of the hospital soon...she had severe smoke inhalation...that is a good idea about the hotels and yes, at that point, I would ask him for the hotel info...I will ask him when the time is right...

Thank you for suggesting this - it is a really inventive way of helping some one in need...

Agreed, great idea, NikkiA! I know I already have some Marriot gift cards here somewhere, I use them for Residence Inns which would seem a good option for them right now as those rooms have little kitchens and sitting rooms...so like mini apartments. We have points that might be used for other hotel chains too..

I can completely understand them not wanting to ever go back to the house again. I think I would be the same :-(

I am without words. I don't think there are words to express how devastating this is. John, we are here when you are ready.

They may have insurance that covers their hotel stay for a bit. So maybe we should wait and see what they need in a few weeks etc. that's not covered ???
