So. It has been a while since I updated this. Jarvis has continued to blossom. He is a much happier cat these days, bringing us his favorite toy to play fetch with him, snuggling in bed with us, and whining for attention with the best of them. He and his best friend Mickey blue eyes spend most days napping and playing together, and Jarvis is no longer a scared, jittery cat. Because he is no longer scared, he is much more adventurous, and demands much more attention. It has been a pleasure for us to see him happy, wanting to interact with us and confident. For us, the key to Jarvis has been twofold: (1) let him do things at his own speed, and honestly, (2) get him a friend. He and D coexist, but Jarvis's real best friend is Mickey. I don't know that Jarvis would be a happy cat okay if it was not for Mickey. I am very glad we took the jump and brought home our 3d boy, it has made a huge difference.

Update.
Jarvis has decided that humans are funnnnn.
Mike and me are cool, but other humans with food and/or toys, they are interesting too.
I am thrilled.
My scaredy cat is no longer a scaredy cat. He is a confident, happy boy who will walk up to strangers, sniff them, and (sometimes) lick them and beg for treats.
We had friends over, and J came and said hello, and begged for goodies. He had never met our friends before. This may not seem like a big deal to anyone else, but the first several months Jarvis spent with us, I worried he would never be confident with strangers in the house, or even comfortable with us. YAY Jarvis!
Oh, and right now, tired and full Jarvis and Mickey are asleep in bed next to me.

I think that the idea of you being the provider of all treats and meals for a bit will help... it will take some patience too and you concentrating on not trying too hard. Think of it like humans, if a person is really cloying and "tries too hard" we tend to be put off and avoid that person...they seem too needy. With cats, a person that stares too much at them is off-putting, staring is a sign of aggression for a cat...so be sure not to be always looking at Jarvis and kinda pleading with him to let you pet him. Make it more casual and you might find it goes better.

But accept that not all cats are the same and they do have preferences in their humans... you can maximize your relationship by the food route, and maybe by finding the special play toy to interact with him.

My cat doesn't like to be peeked at aka around corner, over the laptop , he'll stalk around and come right up to me like he's going to pounce on my face . It's kind of like playing but can be funny and a little scary .

My cat doesn't like to be peeked at aka around corner, over the laptop , he'll stalk around and come right up to me like he's going to pounce on my face . It's kind of like playing but can be funny and a little scary .

Chongo does a similar thing, gets his tail all puffed up and a fur ridge along his back. Then he stalks as I might be peering around a corner trying to make sure I don't see him move. Haven't had the opportunity to make a video yet as it can be pretty spontaneous, but here's about as close as it comes.
