I agree with Patti, three days is about as long as I would give before considering taking back to the vet...

Sorry I'm just back now. Massive computer problems which resulted in getting a brand new computer!
Baby finally did do a poop on the third day, and seemed to be fine for many days. Every once in a while though he gets a bit of diarreah; it might be only one poop like that and then he is fine again. I think we have narrowed ithe problem down to the Origen kibble though. Whenever he has that, he gets diarreah and vomits. We are pretty certain because we went many days with no problems, and then he got into the Orijen cat/kitten kibble that my two domestics were eating and he vomited it up within an hour - his next poop was very soft as well. The vet says she has seen this happen with the Orijen kibble and kittens; they are fine with it and then they can't tolerate it any more. He did vomit again llast night and twice today though. Last night I went to pet him and ran my hand along his tail and my hand came out covered in wet poop. I have not idea what happened...I had heard a very loud bang in the next room moments before, and I have a feeling that it scaed him and he had an accident. He truly seems to have a very sensitive stomach. Through all of this, he is still gaining weight though....he game here at 4 pounds on the 24th of August and he is 6 pounds now. He is also eating EVO soft kitten food, but I've been told by others that it is not a trustworthy brand of food and that there are some contents not disclosed on the nutritional panel. So - now I am trying to find a new food for him. Does anyone have suggestions? I prefer grain-free.....

Taste of the wild is for all ages and does really well here. We use the green bag and it does not contain grains or gluten. I hope the baby continues to do well. Too many changes can bring on the loose stools and vomiting.
The soft stool and vomiting might also just be a sudden change in diet... you say it was when he got into the kibble which if his digestion is not accustomed to it then a sudden meal of any other kibble probably would do the same thing. ANY diet changes need to be gradual!

Sorry I'm just getting back to this forum....am in charge of fundraising at my daughter's school and September is a busy month - plus I got a job at the school and suddenly my available time to use my computer for personal reasons has all but disappeared.
The diahrrea did not resolve even though kitty was only on the food he had been weaned onto by the breeder (the kibble he got into was also what the breeder had him on), so we stopped all kibble and just stayed with his soft food. Diarreah and occasional vomiting (maybe once or twice during the week) still persisted for a week, so we did a PCR panel for uncommon parasites and everything else that could be suspect...the only thing that came up positive was corona virus. She said that the diahrreah was probably caused by him shedding the virus cells.....he still sneezes as well and for that he is taking L-Lysine twice a day...the sneezing is definitely slowing down. No discharge whatsoever from the sneezes and he is still as energetic as ever - and still growing like a weed.
The vet finally put kitty on Tylosin for 6 weeks and a GI diet and the diahrrea has slowed down and pretty much stopped, although the poop is still soft; the first part comes out soft and formed, the last part is usually drippy. He is also getting WAY too big for his litterbox, so the other day, he missed and pooped outside of this box, so I examined his stool...at the very end of the poop, there was a drop of red blood, although I did not see blood throughout the stool. He still has weeks to go on the Tylosin, but I now wonder if it might be time to xray or ultrasound to take a look inside. Perhaps he did swallow something that is irritating his bowel or maybe he has IBS????? He is still growing and 7 lbs now (3 lb gain since August 24th).

I would suggest contacting the breeder and see what they tell you. I would also follow my vet's instructions to try to get evrything under control. Has your breeder been informed of the things that are going on? I hope things straighten out for the poor baby;>)

Thanks for the advice. I have been in contact with the breeder the entire time and apparently none of the other kittens in the litter are having problems. Everything the breeder has suggested doing for my baby - my vet has suggested herself. Just to be clear, he is not acting sick, is growing crazily and is a play-machine.
Will get back to the vet and see what we need to try next. Thank goodness for my pet insurance!

Katnoir, for what it's worth, my savannahs seem to be very sensitive to cat food. Most of them cause the loose stools. If you find one that seems to work well, stay with it.
Now the sneezing. We had a cat (DSH) that would endlessly sneeze. Could not stop the sneezing for years. Multiple vet visits with poor results. One day we switched kitty litter and stayed with that brand for a month because the price was good. The cat stopped sneezing for the first time in years. We stuck with the litter and he lived out the rest of his life without sneezing. And despite being old, he actually perked up. I will only use litter made in the USA, not from a certain country across the Pacific ocean, which was where the previous products were from.
