scratching post dilemma

I think he'll tear through it by then if it does last ill just add more as I go. Surely beats cutting all that cardboard again. Then again half way through I caved and bought a box cutter. So much easier on the knuckles. maybe in the future I could make the flat panel scratchers but put them on the outside as a new layer so as time goes on it grows?

As close to done as its going to be tonight. I'm out of beer lol. down the road I will secure with a post down the middle and shave the bottom so it rounds off better. If I wasn't such a procrastinator it would have looked alot better. but 4 bottles of glue and hours of cutting cardboard. I think I need to find an easier way to make these lol

Our braided poly-rope (7/16" diameter) wrapped column is holding up well against the monsters. Been up about 4 months now, and they don't touch anything else except the climbing pole. I was afraid they would shred it, but I wrapped it tightly and it's doing great even with heavy use.
I'm also considering wrapping a 1" x 8" piece of board about 48" long with the extra rope and anchoring on a wall in the litter-box room. The rope is about $16/100 feet at Home Depot.

How did you attach the rope after wrapping? I have a basement pole this will work great with.

If you knot properly and tight it should stay on its own.

Your braver than I, but have many many many hours configuring mentally various ways to make these cardboard scratchers. And after much mental exhaustion went to the store and bought them. Price sticker shock isn't just for purchasing a new car!

Haha there was plenty of beer involved especially when I boyfriend chipped in... And guess what Loki broke it yesterday. jumped sideways onto my dresser slipped and landed on top of the post break g in half. Clumsy kitty. But I glued it back again all is well again

Thanks! but utmost importance ........functional. Right? I haven't given up on making one but the need was greater than waiting for time to make one.
