Securing cabinets

Good responses! I especially like the pictures for letting me see what is being discussed. Very helpful.

Thanks to all!

Now I need to figure out how to keep them from opening my panty door which is a bi-fold and easy as can be to open. I may need to find a different location to use as the pantry and just store stuff in there they would not find entertaining or enticing.

Wow, one missing letter can completely change the meaning of things dramatically and comedically. That should say pantry door, not panty door. :roflmao:

Mine (F1-F5) don't tend to open cabinets although the cabinet doors are fairly heavy so maybe that dissuades them. I have bifold doors in one bathroom that Baz likes to open up so I have a bungee cord between the two handles that holds them and prevents him from causing trouble.

I must have a very weird house. My bi-fold door has a single knob and only opens in one direction instead of opposite directions. I must ponder the possibilities to figure out a solution. The pantry is a converted closet.

Hmmm ... maybe I can put a litter box in there and use the shelves to store fresh litter.

My bi-fold closet doors are secured with velcro, bungee cords, and heavy boxes full of papers pushed up against them at the point of the fold.

At my house, hook and eye latches are considered a challenge and easily conquered :) A few of my smarter girls have figured out if they hook a paw under the door, and gently rock the door back and forth, it will open, while the dumber* cats watch and wait ;).....I have replaced hook and eyes on my closet doors in my very old house with the slide bolt....when they figure those out, I am just going to put a chain bolt on it or take the dang door off!

I have found some very nice white or brass slide bolts at my local dollar store.

OMG, Patti! That is what I call desperate measures! I am not quite there....yet.

I will keep your suggestion in mind, thanks ;)

This is the security measures on one of my cabinets...

This is the first thing I thought of while standing in the kitchen thinking "that would work if only I had handles on my cabinets". I'm avoiding adding handles because I often catch my clothes on handles or bump into them painfully. :big grin:
