It is ridiculous how some people can be about the "wild" look of our cats... and yet as you say a large dog comes in with much more potential to do damage and they are fine with it. Sigh.

These Pitt Bulls should be banned...there has been plenty attacks on people by them.....never from savannah cats or Servals. Last year a man got mauled by his own 2 Pitt Bulls that he had as pets...it was in the news paper!

Ziggy's mom is the product of a Serval and a Bengal. He certainly has the legs, but his ears are big, but not huge, and no ocelli ;-( Been thinking about painting on ocelli, or maybe tattoos... ;-)

I am horrified that you are contemplating painting or tattooing ocelli on a perfectly good-looking Savannah, lol!
Use a streak of white matte eye shadow or chalk instead. Washes right off safely.

The vet I go to says he should put my F3 out for the biopsy for those soft lumps....before he said he can just use a nerve block to numb the area for the biopsy....I don't think he knows what he's talking about...
Newton also had a 2 or maybe a 1 heart murmur then also said he had the FIP virus in him since the year 2009 and that he picked it up somewhere! He never mentioned it before! Well, I don't really want to put him out for the biopsy because of this heart murmur....he's had these lumps for a few years now anyway so their probably not bad! I'm hoping I can find a better vet close by that I feel comfortable with and that are relaxed around savannah's....the vet seemed nervous when handling him.....he wrapped a towel around him like a burrito and Newton was scared when he had to go have a full blood panel taken...

I agree, if you don't feel confident in your vet find another one! I can't remember if you are anywhere near a vet specialty hospital as that would probably be the best. https://www.acvd.org/ might be worth checking out...
Coronavirus (sometimes misnamed the FIP virus) is relatively common (some papers put it at 80-90% of the feline population) and is a benign gut resident. It is only in a small % of cases that it mutates to the FIP form of virus AND the host is susceptible (there seems to be both required, the mutation of the virus and something about the cat's immune system that renders them more susceptible)... the test your vet would have done does NOT distinguish the benign Coronavirus from the FIP form.
If this is the first time your vet has heard the murmur and it was after burrito wrapping Newton and scaring the cat...then it might be a stress murmur. I'd think finding another vet and seeing if they hear the murmur would be best before doing anything further about that.

Brigitte, he was first diagnosed with a heart murmur in 2009 when he was 5 yrs old. It was a #2 out of a 6. The vet said we should not be too concerned because it was a minor murmur and Newton showed no symptoms of stress or breathing irregularities. The murmur did go away for a few years and showed back up this last visit, so maybe it was because of the stress at the vets that day...He did seem really stressed out and more vocal than he usually is at home. I'm also confused about this FIP that my vet said he's had since 2009.....He said he got from some where......I know back in 2009 I did adopt a DSH black kitten from the animal services, maybe he got it from him. Does that mean my other cats I own have it also? They all seem to be doing fine and look healthy and active. I'm planning on getting a F1 savannah....I don't want him to catch anything. Maybe I have to get rid of all my cats! This stupid vet I have, never told me nothing before about this FIP thing...he said he hates to even talk about it.
