Swollen Cheek

Looks like a bee sting and likely inside her mouth as opposed to outside on her cheek. Our girl can't seem to keep away from them and has pretty bad allergic reactions. I'm pretty sure the vet gives her an antihistamine shot and she is better within 48 hours. Thus far she has only been stung on her pads or in the mouth and from my understanding it's pretty rare that they get stung where fur is present.

Also, and you are pretty far away from this making a difference, it's important to find the stinger as quickly as possible. Never use tweezers to remove them as this just squeezes what ever poison is left in the stinger in. Best to use a sterilized needle to in essence scrape it off. I only know of this as I've been stung more times than I can count at my grandparents home who had plenty of imported Italian honey bees and unlike normal honey bees they will track you more than 3x as far as the domestic ones. Fortunately I don't have any serious reaction to them unlike my sister who needs to go straight to the hospital.

She got checked out at the vet this morning and they think it was a spider bite or bee sting. There is nothing wrong with her teeth and no abcess.
I didn't see a stinger inside her cheek last night, but she decided it was play time when I started poking around in her mouth for the second time and I gave up trying to hold her down.

John, I will keep that in mind if there is a next time. The bugs and bees are starting to come out like crazy now and I'm hoping that she decides to start going for the grasshoppers (once they make an appearance) instead of the bees.

Thank you again everybody for your input, I really appreciate it (and so do my nerves)!

Glad it's nothing serious. Chuju got stung by meat bee years ago and his paw swelled up almost twice the size. I gave him benedryl and tried to put ice on it. By the next morning it was almost back to normal. Sure face me a scare.

Jacq, It definitely gave me a scare. I could only imagine how freaked out I'd be if it was her paw! I've never had to deal with this with my Maine Coon. I guess with the inquisitive nature of SV's, they just can't help themselves!! I can't remember who said this quote (in a different thread on SVCC) "if it flies it dies" and that goes for inside or outside!
