Food:
I have read through the food threads but have these questions. Do you buy your meat ground, grind it yourself (and if so, what grinder do you use), or feed whole? None of my SVs like ground meat so I feed them chunks, usually however it comes packaged from the source. The stew meat and buffalo meat is usually in 1-2" chunks. Do you still primarily source from rodent.pro and Hare Today (besides what you get locally)? Any other primary sources you would recommend? I still use rodent.pro & Hare Today for a lot of stuff. Rabbits4U on Facebook also offers a variety of foods and some of their sources will butcher to order on size.

I have seen the whole/chunked chicken you feed in the photos/video in the thread and read that you also give Mazuri supplements. Are the supplements without bone or with bone (assuming the latter as you are feeding bone). Do you give any other supplements/food besides the freeze dried meat and organ treats and goats milk at night? I use Mazuri without bone. They get sufficient bone from the whole prey that makes up the majority of their diet. Other supplements I occasionally give are ProBios, Lysine and Miralax. The Miralax is primarily for my SV who has IBS. He occasionally develops rock hard stool and Miralax keeps things moving. I use the Lysine when the cats are going to be stressed by something like a vet visit or when we are gone on a trip. I start the Lysine a week before an event that usually stresses them and when we're on vacation, the catsitter gives it to them 3x week until we return. The ProBios helps keep intestinal flora balanced. I give it 2x a week just as a hedge for the cats who are finicky and don't eat as varied a diet as the others.

Enrichment:
You do a great job with enrichment (as my daughter who is in Vet school and has been working with African wild cats for the past two summers in South Africa calls keeping them physically and emotionally stimulated). Your setup is really amazing. You have a 'big cat tree,' the trunk of which is becoming a tight fit for Atticus, that is very unusual and in many of your photos (ripple top bed). Do you recall where you got it? Big cat tree came from http://www.greatlakespetfurniture.com/home I have never seen another like it anywhere.

You have tried a number of cat tunnels. What is your/their favorite? I like the one's for human kids -- buy them where ever you can find them cheapest -- Amazon, ToysRUs or any online vendor.

Are there any other toys besides Da bird (and other wand toys), the ripple rug, roller ball toys, and cardboard boxes that keep them occupied or you would recommend? https://www.amazon.com/TRIXIE-Pet-P...eld-lbr_brands_browse-bin=TRIXIE+Pet+Products Another savannah is the best "toy" of all.
I have not seen an exercise wheel in any of your posts (though I have read about them on this site), which I have to admit surprises me a little. I'm curious as to whether you have tried one or considered it. I bought a used one before I got Atticus and none of the cats used it and I gave it away. I'd love to get one for Atticus but because of his size, the wheel I'd have to buy is very expensive and large and I don't have much room left in the house. I'm still considering a pet treadmill and although crazy expensive, it can be easily tucked away.

Other Advice:
Is there any other advice besides food, toys, preparedness, a ton of patience, and the topics/downloads I have mentioned above that I should be considering as a first time Savannah owner? My breeder has been very good about answering my questions but please give any advice you can think of. I realize every cat is different and I am truly looking forward to bringing my little (for now) guy home.

You've done quite a bit of research to prepare for the arrival of your fur baby. Since you've read all about Atticus, you have a good idea of what to expect. Just relax and enjoy your baby and go with the flow. Remember to cat-proof electrical cords and electrical outlets. You may also have to invest in toilet lid locks and cabinet locks as time goes by and the kitten grows more curious. And if you ever feel overwhelmed by the experience of living with a SV, come here and vent. We've been there and done that and will be here to help if you encounter any challenges you haven't anticipated. My first savannah, Juba, is an F2 and will be 9 yrs old next month. He is the naughtiest of the 4. Makes Atticus look like an angel most days.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I do admit to being a little scared I might be getting more than I bargined for, but I'm excited. After spending the past week watching our teenage nieces and their very naughty and loud King Charles, I'm feeling pretty confident again though!

We have a 6 year old Maine Coon and a 5 year old Labradoodle we are hoping will provide some entertainment for him.

I truly appreciate all the support and advice I've already received on this site. Reading about Atticus and your crew was a pleasure.

Tell your momma that both Herpes and Mycoplasma can be carried asymptomatically by cats so it is impossible to know where it came from. Herpes is thought to be carried by 80-90% of all cats, it hides in the nerve cells and so even if you do a PCR test a cat can test negative when the virus is there... Mycoplasma can be "normal flora" for some cats.

Add to that Herpes is a fairly resistant bug and so can be picked up off surfaces at a vet hospital if a sick cat came in that day...
