The Atticus Diaries

Day 2
Camera is missing. Atticus has copped a plea but has not revealed where he hid the loot. In the meantime, he has learned that if he takes a running jump onto a little bed I put in the bathroom for him, it slides clear across the room. So that's what he's been doing this morning. The savannah version of slip 'n slide.
And he has grown since Friday. No surprise there as he eats the equivalent of a dodo bird every day.

He is a good looking little boy.... You had better get some sleep today, because you're not getting tonight...
I think I was lucky with Elsa... She only had 1 flight leg (from a Hub to a Hub) and less than a 4 hour gap (2 in the plane) between leaving the breeder and arriving here in Memphis. It does not sound as if you boy is quite so lucky and I hope and pray for him to have an easy trip.
Working on the Ramp at Airports for so many years, you hear bad things about baggage handlers... I will tell you that when they handle live animals they all do the best they can and treat them well.
I will share one story about a man and his dog... This sounds like fiction, but I know for a fact it is true.
A man traveling from somewhere in Texas to Atlanta Georgia (about 30 years ago) was traveling with his Hunting Dog. Once the baggage handlers unloaded the dog, the plane was packed full and it was a very hot day, so they put the dog under the wing so it would have shade... Once they finally finished unloading the plane they went to get the dog and noticed the dog was dead... They did not know what to do, so someone had the bright idea... The SPCA is close by... Maybe we can get lucky and get one that looks just like him.. Being a long shot they tried it and sure enough they found the spitting image of the dead dog... They transferred over all the tags and documents and off to baggage pickup.... The Agent in the baggage room not knowing what had happened, delivered the dog to the owner, and the owner, and the owner promptly said... "This Is Not My Dog"... The agent quickly checked all the documentation and the guy said... "You Don't Understand".... My Dog died in a hunting accident, and I was bringing him home to bury him. With some research, they found out what had happened... The son who was in tears immediately fell in love with the new dog and they lived happily ever after.... and they did get the other dog back to bury.
I know that is a good and bad story from different prospective, but it shows how airline personnel will do everything they can do for the fur kids... As a maintenance controller, when one of my planes is carrying a live animal and something happens that affects the cargo bin, we immediately divert the plane to the nearest suitable airport where either repairs are accomplished, or the animal will take another flight later. I even have known captains that before close up will personally make sure that animal is ok...
From the 2nd pic... You may need a blanket to cover that foot... It is awful tempting for a boy his size... and you are just asking for it...
Day 1
We've had 2 hrs sleep so far. He had lots of pent up energy to dispel when we got home last night and wasn't interested in eating so I tossed out the food after 2 hrs. He fell asleep at 2:30 a.m. I was awakened at 3:30 a.m. by an uncomfortable wet feeling and Atticus sucking on the sleeve of my pajama and kneading like a madman. Sucking followed by bellowing and the alligator roll on my chest. Clue: He's hungry. To the kitchen I went, bleary eyed and stumbling to fix him some food.
Imagine Godzilla lapping food from a swimming pool. That's what this kitten sounds like when he eats.
I worried that 10 large chicken thighs would spoil before he ate them all. I don't think that will be a problem.
He made friends with Alan this morning. Atticus is still not too sure of the tall creature who hangs out with mom. He made Alan work hard for a good 30 minutes for the first head butt. Alan will have to move slow and spend a lot of time on the floor these next couple days.
I should have named him Jumpin' Jack Flash because that's how he spent the night -- hurdling corner to corner over the bed and serval pouncing me.

Juba is handling the new presence and smells ok. Taji is going ballistic and taking it out on Juba and Maliik. Maliik has sought refuge on top of the laundry room cabinets. And so it begins.
That is just a quick recharge cycle, and downloading upgrades to his mischief database.
Geez.. 10 hours nonstop.... I wonder who has watched this thing til the end.... LOL... I am not on that list to be sure....
That is why 1 camera won't work, and you need one a big enough they cannot pick up... Would love to see the Slip'N'Slide... Sounds funny..... You have to get that one on Video.. GoPro's are great for that.
