And fully agree that asking questions on this forum is why this forum exists! Many of us have a lot of experience, and might not only have advice but be able to interpret some of the more confusing information (like those with medical type backgrounds). And prayers do help too!

I totally agree with this... I had a life threatening emergency with Elsa as many will remember... The support I got here was 2nd to none....

Brigette - yes, I live in the bay area as well (San Jose), and the vet costs are insane. Note that since this was an emergency case that could not be scheduled with our regular vet, the estimates were from an emergency 24 hour vet.

I am well-aware of emergency vet costs... and have expended thousands and thousands over the years. I have experience with emergency surgeries of both cats and dogs over those years, and still think that very high as estimate.

But at the end of the day, this is a moot point. The kitten was operated on and hopefully is in a great new home! I wish a long and happy life for Mars the kitten (whatever his new name is now)

I would think carefully before getting a new kitten. Your assumption is that all costs would be covered by insurance and as this is critical to your owning a pet I would be very careful to read the fine print of your insurance coverage. Sometimes things aren't completely covered, and some things are excluded.

Thanks for the update Brigitte... Glad to hear that he was operated on and I assume doing ok now... I too certainly wish Mars (as we know him) a happy and fruitful life... I hope his new owner will share updates with us here...
