I think if a kitten is raised with a "pocket pet" they can learn to get along! Look at Keljin for example, (brehearts kitten), he loves his ferret sister, Winry! I took these photos the other day so figured I could post since it is a relevant topic hehe.

A ferret will fight back though... bunny, not so much. That makes a difference I am sure.

Oh, how adorable...now make sure when Kelgin gets older, he doesn't see Winny as prey

I do NOT think this is true for the higher generation Savannahs. F1s will go through hell and high water to get something they want. I will not place an F2 kitten in a home that has a pocket pet that is an integral part of the family. I don't really qualify ferrets as pocket pets- but I'd have a long talk to the new owners about safety, responsibility and their potential new kitty :)

I totally agree with this Trish. The reason I searched for a lower gen, was exactly for Winry's safety. Also with proper socialization, they got along great as he was a baby, and Winry was bigger than him at the time they were introduced and she was the boss, and even scruffed him and groomed him! Nowadays he has outgrown her, and they chase and rough house, and dominance has swapped, but Keljin doesn't use his claws and they just have fun chasing and tumbling. If it were with a higher gen, even introduced as a baby I would still worry and have those thoughts too.

Ferrets are darn clever animals too, nearly as intelligent as a cat I think ;) she gets into more trouble than Keljin does. I wouldn't put them in a pocket pet category either, and she definitely holds her own in a fight and wiggles out of his grasps. I would rank her somewhere inbetween pocket pet and cat in the middle.

Well, I think too that most cats don't treat ferrets as prey. Not sure if it is due to the smell or the behavior though... I love ferrets!
