Savannah's are very smart.. I am going to try to start Elsa off early and get her used to it... If I can convince her it is supposed to be there then maybe I will have better luck with it..

I had a cat along time ago would take the collar off, and then showing off how smart he was he would either leave it on the couch or bed letting me know he had won again... He never would lose it, just take it off and leave it where I could find it... Never could figure out that sucker. If I made it any tighter it would choke him.

I promised and now I wish I hadn't I said I would post a picture of Elsa with her new collar and tracker. To keep a promise here it is.

If Elsa had any thumbs, she would give this on a Thumbs down.... Just for the record, it was only on her a long enough to grab the picture... She did not like it.

LOL, poor baby - she is getting drowned in that collar and tag - she definitely needs to grow into it a bit! How old is she??

Yeah... I had the great plans of being able to track her around the house.. Geez... It only weighs 5 grams, that is only the weight of 2 pennies... Once I tried it on her, it was obvious it was not going to work... She wore it for less than a minute... About 10 minutes longer than she wanted. I am going to wait 2 or 3 months or at least until she gets more size on her... She is 10 weeks... Just barely old enough by what I am hearing.

I have a rescue bengal who is an EG cat. I have taken her on a major multi-state road trip to my folks' remote mountain cabin where even GPS is iffy in places and there is NO hope of cell service. After researching all of my options, I got this:

It has a range up to a mile (open land), less in town (couple blocks).

We tried having her out on leash-and-jacket, but she (fortunately for me) HATES the outside. It terrifies her and she runs off pure instinct, hardly even recognizes me (but still, VERY fortunately, has zero aggression - just fear).

She got out at my folks' place. Curious little beast she is. We did not know for two HOURS. When we started looking for her, first within the house with the radio receiver, we could not believe it that the signal kept being strongest pointed at a blank wall! Finally I decided to trust it and went outside, and shined a light in the direction of the signal, called my little beastie's name, and two little green eyes peeped back at me from a brushy spot in tge forest, about 150 yards away. It took a while (she was terrified and did not recognize me at first), but with some calm, gentle talking, and walking near her saying her favorite word (chicken! lol!) she came close enough to touch. I sat a bit, and she "came back down" from her wild terror and let me pick her up, take her inside, and ply her with chicken :) She was shaking when I picked her up.

That radio transmitter and receiver is the only reason I still have her, I am certain of it.

While that event was stressful, the roadtrip in general was great, and she seemed unfazed by most of it. She ate normally (voraciously), used her litterbox perfectly (stinky in a Jeep!), and LOVED taking care of my folks' little rodent trouble. All in all, it was less stressful than boarding, and probably equivalent to having a petsitter. For long trips in the future, I'll definitely do the same again.

Heh, I think that might have been my first post, actually. I've lurked for over a year :p I just don't have much to add to conversations here as my little beastie-butt is not a Savannah :) I started lurking for the benefit of reading about eg savs (as well as on other sites to read about eg bengals).

And I also just realized this thread is old :p. Well, hopefully someone might benefit from my experience.

Hi Beastlet. Welcome to the forum. Yes, it is about Savannahs but all the advice is about cats and a Savannah (as well as your little beastie-butt :in love:) is a cat so the advice works for all. We'd love to see pics.
