As SavannahLuv says, I hope that it is the vet's opinion that the eye will not be an issue in the future. I'm sure that he does fine with one functional eye, there's cats out there that lose an eye and do great, just like humans. I think you might just expect their depth perception to be a little "off".. maybe he will be a little more klutzy than the average Savannah (although they are pretty clumsy too! LOL!) or he just might be more careful about jumps etc to allow for this. Cats are amazing in adapting to their circumstances!

I hope that that is an end to your issues with your cats and you can just enjoy them now! I don't know what Paige's feelings are on naming the breeder but I feel that you have been pretty fair in your description of the situation and have merely shared what has happened. You have acknowledged that they did replace Sasha, even if it seems unfair to replace with a kitten that has a known defect.

You're definitely right about the adjustment the cat will make. And there's no denying a cat with only one good eye can still be loved to excessive degrees.
I'm glad the breeder at least replaced the cat, but I'm standing firm with my opinion that they should be outed. I understand there's a lot of breeders here who will empathize with the breeder, because sure, they put up with their share of issues, and I'm sure they try to cut costs where they can with feeding and housing and what-not, but you can't deny this particular breeder sounds like they're struggling to provide not just functional healthy cats, but even decent service to it's customers regarding advice on how to care for their new family members.
I know it seems harsh, but producing these cats is a business which deals with live animals. I hate to think there are other cats being churned out of that cattery with similar issues and that they just toss more cats at their customers when one dies. It all just seems really irresponsible on the part of the breeder. I for one would really like to know who it is, so I know to avoid them when looking for my next fur baby.

If Paige Ok's it, I'm happy to share. I just dont like to make calls like that. I was overly understanding with the breeders and did not feel I received the same compassion. I actually already shared who they are....

So sorry to hear about Sasha, I know from experience how hard losing a kitten is. I hope Lo lives a long healthy life. Your avatar pic of Lo is adorable

Did you have his eye checked out by your vet or are you just taking the breeders word on it that it won't be an issue in the future?

I took him to the vet many times, had everything possible done, extensive blood work etc. AND had him checked by an eye specialist. It just went to show the breeder didn't know what they were talking about or lied about what they thought they knew... IDK - his eye is good enough for he and I. We almost named him Pyrite, like the mineral. For Pirate, but Pyrite.... cause he looks kinda piratish... lol - Lo is what stuck...

It's sad but true that not all people when they take a pet to the vet do ALL the testing or investigating they can. I know that my vets love that I always want to know as much as possible...even though it means I rack up thousands of dollars in vet bills, I much prefer to know what I am dealing with. And as a breeder, I don't feel right placing a kitten or cat unless I know what is wrong. I've kept kittens back for that reason, I couldn't burden a pet buyer without knowing the outcome for that kitten.

But others will take a kitten to the vet and prefer to accept the vet's opinion on what is most likely the case, avoiding any suggested testing or the suggestion to take the kitten to a specialist. They will take the cheapest option for example of taking some antibiotic drops and see if that helps...and ignore any words about anything else. I used to think a lot of vets were just terrible vets misdiagnosing cats...until I experienced a few cases where the owner said "this is what the vet said" and I then heard what the vet actually said. Vets often give three or more possibilities and suggest what testing might help work it out. But if an owner is resistant to spending more then they can't make them do more. And vets often get to know their clients, and know that they won't spend extra on things like xrays, blood tests, specialist vet visits...

I love the name Pyrite (for pirate), that's cute but he's Lo and that's great too

Glad it wasn't anything serious and will hopefully go away in time. Lo is lucky to have a slave, I mean owner, that takes such good care of him.

I'm sorry to hear about Sasha and glad you have Lo. I recently had a kitten who became ill at 6 weeks and spent thousands on testing to make sure he was healthy before he went to a new home. He was healthy when he went to his new home, but I needed to make sure.

As for the breeder, they are not active here nor really in the community much anymore...
