Travelling through Canada

I'm not sure that scientific background. But basically it is a more holistic treatment you can give for 10 days, starting 3 days before the shot and continuing for a total of ten days. It helps the body to deal with the vaccine and therefore have less reactions.

He had 0 reactions to his rabies vaccine. 0. But I'm sure it's different for different cats.

So just updating after calling the Canadian border services. They said that they don't think that we should have any problems crossing with Simon as he is still a domestic cat (I talked to a vet who knew what Savannahs were) and he said that honestly the laws in Canada for Savannahs are not very set and can vary from place to place, person to person, but he was confident in saying that all I should need is the rabies certification. I will bring more than this just to be safe in case they ask for pedigree papers and health certificate of course. Will be calling the border services in the U.S. soon to see what they say about crossing back over from Canada!

I don't know what the US Border Service will tell you but I'm pretty sure the US Fish and Wildlife office will tell you that Simon needs to be inspected leaving and returning to the US. Again, you won't know for sure until you call and talk to them. I can't remember if I posted this before, but here is the link to the Designated Ports: http://www.fws.gov/le/designated-ports.html

Just called and the US border serves said that all I would need coming back into the US would be the rabies vaccine certification as well. It almost seems too easy both US and Canada services said that all I would need is Rabies certificate. I am going to make a few more calls to someplace other than Canada and US border services. USDA and/or US fish and wildlife

I will call US fish and wildlife just to make sure. On their webpage it says, "if the cat appears to be ill, further examination by a licensed veterinarian at the owner's expense might be required at the port of entry."

I just imported 2 cats through Logan. The best # for F&W is tel:617-889-6626. They can be hard to get a hold of. Unfortunately they know what they require, but no one else seems to know. I would make sure you check with them so there are no surprises.

Were they your pets before importation or did you import them in order to adopt them initially? Rules and regulations are different for cats that are being transported for adoption and cats that are already pets traveling with owners from what I have been reading.

I don't believe that the US Fish and Wildlife makes any distinction as to why a cat is crossing the border other than to charge different inspection fees based on if it is a pet crossing or a commercial sale.
