But here is my question - why would your vet even suggest Ronidazole if the PCR was not done? Many vets do not have experience with TriTrich and that is part of the issue. My vet does not have much experience with it either. I agree with trying everything possible before giving Ronidazole, but I would do the PCR first...and remember the PCR for TriTrich is different than a regular PCR panel.

Yeah I would agree to doing a PCR first before even giving Ronidazole, I may want to search around for a cheaper place though... any ideas why the test is so expensive? What exactly is the difference between a normal PCR panel and a TriTrich PCR? I may want to find a more experienced vet regarding the topic, I was happy with trying what we can for now, but if that next step is needed I am wanting to be cautious.

Update.. the panacur and fortiflora did nothing for Keljin unfortunately. I can now say I have done all I can to try medicine and diets for Keljin's ongoing diarrhea and blood in his stools.

The link above brought my hopes up, but unfortunately to send it to them all the vets I checked charge processing fees for collecting and sending the sample, and doctor time. The cheapest place I could find was $160. Since the sister tested positive, I am thinking of going ahead with this test regardless of cost.. The only other possibility my vet thinks is perhaps food allergy, and high sensitivity.. But something in my gut just thinks its TriTrich, but there is no way I can get my hands on treatment without a positive diagnosis.

Thank goodness my tax return is coming in.. I am probably going to get it done next week. He is still leaking and dripping day to day :(

Breanna, I think you should just go ahead and get the test done. You will have to bring a fresh sample right away to the vet...but you have done everything you could do and I'm thinking it is TriTrich.

Well, honestly, if a sibling tested positive for it- I'd go ahead and treat anyways. Maybe others wouldn't, but since the symptoms are there and a littermate has it- eh, I think it's the right move

My thoughts exactly. The problem is, what if the test comes out negative? How can you convince your vet to get you the meds to treat despite a negative test result? The medication is tricky for vets to order since it is not FDA approved for cats, so many of our vets around here hesitate.
