Good to hear Ashley, but Science Diet is not a good quality food for the long term.

Oh trust me I know!!! She said to keep him on it for about another week. I keep putting a little bit of raw out in a separate bowl, just in case he wants to eat it. But he keeps turning his nose up at it. :( She recommended Taste of the Wild if he won't go back to the raw.

Well, mine have never gotten sick from the raw chicken I feed them, but I'm sure it can happen.

Be careful with Taste of the Wild! I had to give my cats this since the feed store was out of Chicken Soup for the Cat Soul and half of them ended up with the runs! One has it so bad I have to take him to the vet tonight :(. And yes, I was careful about how I got them onto TOTW.

Is diarrhea a issue all kittens and cats get when they come home and adjust to their new environment ? Seams I have read a lot lately about this. I have 3 weeks before getting my little guy. Was hoping not to have to deal with diarrhea and them using other places instead of litter box.

If you keep the kitten on the same food he eats at the breeders, you should not have a problem...it is usually an issue if it was already an issue at the breeders or if you change the food or if you want to change the food, but do not do it gradually.

None of my 3 developed diarrhea when I brought them home. I kept them on breeder recommended food only 1 week before I started transitioning them to raw. Even Maliik, who had coccidia and giardia when I got him, never had diarrhea. It is not uncommon for a bit of soupy poop when transitioning from one food to another so it's possible to have a day or two of the runs before the kitten's system adjusts. I've been concerned about the number of people reporting health & litter box issues too.

Mine didn't either Deborah...I hope my kitten buyers pay attention to what I tell them, so they don't have litterbox issues...

I have to say that once I put my kittens on the Blue Ridge Beef Raw (kitten mix) their poop firmed up...feeding canned food meant loose stools until they got used to the canned...I prefer raw/canned combo for my kittens since their new homes may not want to feed raw and I don't want my kittens to have any issues if the kitten buyers want to feed canned.
