Some vets think cats are the same as dogs, and there is some cause to think that dogs do better being neutered later in life. Cats are very different.

My F2 @ 4mo old runs around like a mad man...The other F2 and F5 I had at kittens were nothing like this little guy....sleep? What's that?

Update. Riddick went to the Vet for his surgery Monday, everything went great. This week he has been bumming around though and really doesn't have much of an appetite. He usually scarfs his food the minute you set it down. He has wanted to play some but not much at all and doesn't show much interest in anything. Is this normal?

It's normal to be a bit "down" for a day or so after sedation but five days seems a bit extreme. It was an uncomplicated neuter? Did the vet send you home with any pain meds? My vet doesn't for a neuter but I have heard of cats sent home with buprenorphine for pain and that will keep them dopey and act as an appetite suppressant too...

He didn't start acting different until Wednesday night. Monday and Tuesday he was eating regular. The surgery went great and no pain meds were needed. He slept all day today but did end up eating this evening. He just doesn't seem himself.

A neuter is kinda minor surgery hence I wonder if something ELSE is wrong? Unless it is a rare case of infection, is he trying to lick the wound or seem bothered by the incision at all? A temperature?

I agree, it seems a bit odd for him to be out of sorts several days after his neuter. It wouldn't hurt to have him checked out by the vet if he continues to act under the weather.

Thank you! He ate this morning but has still hasn't been himself. He hasn't once licked the wound or seem bothered by it. I have also noticed he has been having a hard time going #2 and when he does it's very small and not as solid. I am thinking maybe he has something else going on as well. If he isn't back to himself by Monday I will have to take him in.

If he's had a temperature, he'd be a little dehydrated and that can lead to constipation. Have you taken a pinch of fur at the back of his neck and seen if it rebounds a bit slowly? That's a good indication of dehydration...
