Walking jacket needed???

As everyone has said, check with the breeder on the walking jacket idea. My suggestion is a litterbox...you could bring with you a larger crate than she will likely be flying in that will fit a small litterbox and kitty bed in... that way she can be safely contained but have access to a litterbox after her long flight. Bring wet wipes with you btw in case she hasn't been able to hold it and is a bit messy when you pick her up. Mostly they don't but it pays to be prepared!
It can be hard to ignore the cries, but if you do most of the time the kitten will settle down and nap...just don't keep looking into the crate and talk to them if you don't want them to talk back! LOL!

Oooh good idea on the larger crate! And what's even better is I actually have one! I've gone a wee bit over board preparing for her arrival you see. You'd think I was pregnant again and preparing the baby's nursery. I've bought her a fluffy soft blanket to keep on her bed at home. So maybe I can get a little litter box, put her blankie in there and at least I'll know I've given her what she needs to be comfy. I also was a nerd and sent a tshirt of mine to Patty for the kittens to sleep with so that when Aniyah DOES fly she'll have at least a scent that might comfort her some. So, provided there's no poop on the tshirt when she gets to us, that can go in the big crate as well. And I've got a two year-old daughter who has multiple packages of baby wipes available so I'm good there too and more than use to cleaning off dirty hineys As for sneaking a peek at her, as long as I'm the one driving I can promise not to be turning around backwards playing with her while doing 70 or 75 down the highway....I hope!

Sounds like you have prepared very well for Aniyah! Look forward to seeing more pics of her and hearing about your drive home

Pee pads are great for the carrier in case she poops or pees on the ride home.

I called the City of Lubbock Animal Permit department and spoke with the supervisor there and he said that for an F2 a permit will not be required. Come to find out, he's a close friend of my brother-in-law and made the joke that if I train Aniyah to "attack" my brother-in-law I could keep her All joking aside, he said there is nothing stated in the City or County policies saying a permit is required. I gave him my name, address and phone number and he said he'd call back if he found out anything different. He thanked me for my being proactive and calling them. That's been almost three weeks ago. Do you know anything different? I've read the laws on hybrids and the requirement for exotics here but he said since she's and F2 it shouldn't apply to us...

Jeni, do you have the contact info for the Lubbock County Animal Permit department, preferably an email? It is the County laws that say a permit is required. TX law doesn't stipulate generation so, at least in my experience, it has been presumed to include hybrids of all generations. If I can get something in writing contrary to that I would love to update the HybridLaw website with that info, along with the contact info of the person interpreting the law.

Patti, this doesn't surprise me one bit about Lubbock. I don't know if you watched CNN today but the top story was a great depiction of what we are dealing with when it comes to city and county officials here! haha. Anyway, I spoke with George at 806-775-2057. He had no clue whatsoever what a Savannah was and just said that if the Serval wasn't her parent he didn't think we needed one and he'd let me know if he found out differently once he researched it. Originally, I had told him she was getting here on Aug 25th and that if I didn't hear from him, I'd have the vet call him once we take her for her 72 hour well check. She'll be here on Sept 1st and her vet visit is the 3rd (Labor Day). When I read your post this morning, I went and re-read the laws and I know what you are talking about in reference to the hybrid. That would be amazing to be able to update the HybridLaw website if this guy is "all there" Let me know what you find out if it's any different!!! Oh and I don't have an email address, sorry! I've thought about going down there myself and just apply for a permit and see what happens???

I called George back this morning and he said NOT to quote him. He's giving me advice as a family friend only. No changes to the HYbrid Law He said the USDA defines a cross between a hybrid and a domestic as a domestic. He said to print that out and keep it should anyone question me but not to use his name. Woops!
