You all have been so kind in your warm welcomes and now I would like to share
with you what has transpired in the last day and a half.
In my excitement about my newly arriving kittens and the thought of my dream of
breeding Savannahs reaching it's beginning,I was blessed to have Anatole from
Spidersweb Savannahs as one of my kittens owners.
As you are aware from Anatoles own posts here he has been dealing with an
outbreak of T.T.in his cattery, during our many corresponces this was something
he spoke openly about.
Of course it sparked my interest enough to further educate myself, the symptons
seemed remarkably like that of my Abbysinian cat Bob a cat I had spent many
dollars and vet visits on in my pursuit to find out why he had smelly and
ongoing diarreha ,my vet had finally told me that Bob had IBD and when I spoke
with the breeder she said that his father had in fact died from IBD ..tears were
shed and we went onward,my other 2 cats have never developed runny stools BTW .
After my new awareness of T.T. I went to my vet and spoke to her about getting
Bob tested, she had never even heard of T.T.but a local vet training college were
doing some research into it and used Bob in their clinical testing, with both
pouch and the other wet test.
So yesterday my vet called and wanted me to come in and sure enough my cat is
highly infected.
So all my dreams of Savannah cats and babies will have to be put aside for
now...I share this in the hopes that this community will be aware that they
should begin to have all cat's tested for this parasite and to spread awareness
in their vet communities .
I remain a Savannah cat lover and registered breeder so hope to remain a member
of this group and to be a part of the wisdom shared Sue Scalia
