What age to neuter a sterile male?

Well Loki is doing fine and acting as nothing has happened. He is confined to the washroom . I can't get him to wear his cone of shame. He whines and once I get it on he can't walk with it on and it's too large. He can't eat or drink with it on. Being only 4 months old they don't work or fit well. He is not licking the area. So I'm not sure if I should cut the color and make it smaller and shorter and force him to wear it or go without one. Any thoughts ?

This is what I used on Duma when he was neutered and it worked quite well (and before him my DSH wore it when he had cancer surgery). It's soft so it's not quite as annoying:

Alternately I have heard that using a baby onesie can work well.

Thanks...I will look into it... ;)

Our breeder gave us written instructions to our Vet. They recommend she be 5 to 6 months old and to use isoflurane gas form of anesthesia. They stated that Savannah's are more susceptible to anesthesia than domestic cats. I hope this was helpful.

Loki is acting a little strange..super hyper and wont slow down...doesnt want to be picked up as much...wants down right away and wants to run and jump up on everything....Dont know if its the trama from the Clinic, the meds he is on, the neutering, or being locked up for a day and a half.....I hope he returns to his normal lovable self soon....I am not giving him any more medication, and I havent had a cone on him...dont know if I need to get that done...he does not lick the area much..anyway...we will see....

He's just looking for where you hid his nuts.

Chongo was pretty fired up for a couple days after his neutering and calmed down into his normal self after 3-5 days. The biggest thing for Chongo as he was making the adjustment was that he realized he had gained some additional speed with the loss of weight and a smaller aerodynamic footprint. Once he got the handling figured out he just purred like a kitten and no longer had the need to show he could burn the paws off.

So Loki should be back to his normal self by the weekend, and it sounds like you have some pretty good entertainment lined up for the next few days.

Haha. That's it john. He is running light in the rear. He is 17 weeks and jumped up on the counter in the bathroom today. Didn't think he could jump up that high. Must have really weighed him down Lol

Can't remember when I neutered my F5 and the F2 that passed away...I now have another F2...He is now 4 months old...The breeder told me wait until he is around 8 months old so he handles the anesthesia...What do you think? He is already getting aggressive....My F5 isn't likin' it lol

I'm a fan of early spay/neuter. I think 6 months is the limit for waiting, otherwise, you run the risk of hormones kicking in.
