What brand grinder do you use?

Glad it helped! That's where I started my recipe for a raw diet and it's evolved a little bit, but that's the basic premise. Chongo's coat resembles more the skin of an eel than fur, totally silky. He too had some loose stool issues when he came home and tried to transition him to canned food. Never did work and he's way happier eating raw. Hopefully that helps with his recovery as well.

I just bought a STX MEGAFORCE 3000 SERIES WITH "PATENT PENDING - COWL AIR INDUCTION COOLING SYSTEM" $188 on Amazon....got great reveiws, SO I hope this one will last for years....

on a side note, does anyone use beef or pork in the cats diet, or only chicken, turkey, rabbit? so far, Loki only will eat chicken...and some turkey if mixed....he doesn not like fish, shrimp tried some of the higher end treats and he just sniffs them...thought that was wierd.

I actually have that grinder as well, robert and it is great...I broke my Tasin by doing something stupid and bought the STX as a back up.

I have raised the kittens on Blue Ridge Beef kitten mix, which contains beef and they have grown up nicely on it ;)

I just used the grinder the other day....learing curve...went ok, got a little mushy was using the small hole grinding plate...went to the larger one...was much better....I think if the chicken was more frozen it would have not been so mushy ...need to semi-freeze it next time...

Just got a Cabella's 3/4 hp grinder. Really quite nice and with its 3/4 hp motor it has more than enough ummfph to get any larger chicken bones ground up well. A bit spendier, i paid $350 for it. There's also a cheaper 1/2 hp version, which I'm sure would be fine.

I also looked at the LEM line of grinders at Bass Pro Shops, but wasn't as impressed with their design I think (and less powerful motors for the price).

I buy beef and pork and cut it into chunks and mix it with the chicken. They LOVE the pork, not so much the beef.
