What noises does your cat produce?

My male (F5) has earned the nickname from my husband of Chewbacca because he does this low guttural sound and it is LOUD! He also chatters at the birds. We laugh because he was very quiet when we got him and my husband said to him one day I wish you would be more vocal. I swear he understood and immediately started making all sorts of meows and chatters and the chewbacca yells.

My F2 female is very quiet. She does little meows when she needs something. She chatters and chirps very quietly when playing and watching birds. She also purrs at 4am in the morning when she wants me to snuggle her and meeps when I ignore her.

I have never heard them hiss or growl at each other or the dog (weimaraner).

My 2 F2s chirped when they were little but didn't utter nary a peep until they hit 2-3 yrs of age then started yowling, screaming, chirping, mrrping, trilling & humming just to name a few. My F6 hasn't been silent since the moment he was born. LOL. He can let out the longest meow I've ever heard -- it goes on for minutes and he doesn't take a breath. He is very chatty and his most endearing feature is a special meow he has when he is about to get into or cause trouble. It's like he's telling on himself -- "I'm gonna do something bad, real bad" and then he has a special meow for "Uh oh, I did the something bad."

And her brother Crazy !
Crazy always like to be howling and loud, even in the wee hours of the morning. If you don't throw the ball fast enough he will meow loudly. He always chirps when playing with his sissy, and I am not sure what you would call the sound he makes when he wants a bird that is outside the window. It is the strangest sound and I am not sure what name to use:rolleyes: Katniss doesn't have a full meow!! Almost a "eow, eow" hahahahha.. half a meow!! and soft..

Bob has developed the most godawful yowl, appears to use it only when he sees our other cat, but it's a noise that goes right through me, unfortunately. she's not at all bothered by him, i think he's interested in her but the howling really isnt helping! he's got a repertoire of other noises, lots of grumbling, but it's this piercing yowl that's causing us some issues at the moment.

my f6 meows and purrs.
f3 growls and purrs and chirps, but got sick about 3 weeks ago and now she is recovered she still does that but added a crazy "scream" that she never did before she got sick. Everything else is great with her, I just think she discovered this new noise when she was sick and decided she liked it.
My f2 boy Hisses like crazy but his Main noise he makes when hes not interacting sounds like a coo made by a dove. He does it all of the time and if you didn't know better you would think there was a dove or pigeon in the house.

Chirps & Massive Headbutts
Probably 3 times a day, Shango barks in excitement and shows off in front of me. It's a routine now. He'll stare at me, then run into the hallway, run back. By then he fluffs up his Serval tail (as I call it) and then proceeds to move his head down and twist & contour his whole body. But the noise he makes with all of this is out of this world. It is a bark or maybe a chirp-growl, I don't know. Never seen any cat do this. Thinking this is some sort of Serval trait? It's funny either way. Pictures are rare and hard to get. I've got a few like this one below... dj
