I agree with all the possiblities mentioned. You say she get s kick out of the rake but that also means the possibilty she is avoiding said rake.

I have had a total of 7 automatic litter boxes and have thrown all away. Including the one you attach to septic.

Get clear low sided storage tubs that are long. Once she gets accustom to those I would move to higher sides. You need at minim 2 litter boxes.

See litter box in back is the advance litter box that has a hole cut in the side.

Thank you all, we are changing the automatic litter box as it just not big enough anymore. She will be spayed this week, I did catch her in the act on my office chair again but was able to stop her from doing the deed :)

Happy New Year Everyone.
My guess is that she is in heat and the behavior will resolve after she is spayed. In the event that it does not, you have received excellent advice from several Forum members (-:

Curious as to why a clear storage tub as opposed to one that is opaque?

I did see that Sterilite has a bunch of storage bins with wheels now. I think I could put some of those to good use.

Still baffled as to why Sterilite doesn't have the best intended use of their storage bins on their website.

Cats like to see what is going on around them and who is approaching, particularly when they are in a compromised position while squatting...

Please don't suggest Sterlite start advertising their storage bins as litterboxes, otherwise their prices will shoot up exorbitantly!! ;)

Oh heavens no! I was simply meandering through their site and looking at all the sweaters, yarn, boots and sports equipment they had under their ideal use and not once did I see a cat taking a dump as they are used in our home.

Oh gosh, I hope Sterilite never gets wind of the most popular use for their storage boxes! You just know they'd raise the prices.

:)

Kittens especially can become confused and "go next to" what smells like the litter box. Can not find it, see it but I smell it... so I guess this is the litter box.

And as Patti said they like to see what is going on. Just from the cats point of view I would think the more illusion of space the better. Kind of like being in a really small room it is confining.

We moved from the play area litter box which was a bit low and getting too small (used crystals for litter) scoop free to pine and a clear large bin. So far she is excepting it and there is so much less mess to pick up from the floor as she would kick out all the crystals out of the littler a few times a week.
