What to do? Give back to breeder or keep?

Called and talked with MY breeder and asked for her advice.. Shiro is scheduled to be fixed Friday along with any needed shots. After the certification from the vet, I'll contact Shiro's breeder and inform her of Shiro's ownership change to me. Handling an F1 for a few years and an F3 hopefully will make me a good candidate.

I'll keep you guys posted..

Yeah, you have to be honest. And if you have invested the money into fixing her and taking care of her, hopefully that will be enough to convince the breeder you are a great new home for her.

Well.... Here we go again....

Got her back from the vet with receipt of Spaying.. She tested positive for feline lukemia.. I had them run the test twice.. came back positive again... Shiro is in the isolation room.. makes me have that uneasy feeling about the rest of the herd... I'm planning on having them checked monthly until that uneasy feeling goes away...

Called up the breeder, she wasn't too happy..alot of words on her part, but Shiro is now my responsibility.. Unfortunately I've seen what this disease does to a cat.. spent alot of time making my domestic short hair comfortable before he could no longer eat or drink... What to do now????

The vet did call before the operation informing me of the lukemia results and asked if I wanted to continue with the procedure... She is fixed.. unfortunately this is bringing back too many memories..

I'm so sorry! I hope Shiro has been kept in isolation the entire time she has been with you; this is only one of the many reasons quarantine is recommended before introducing to your other pets. Is this what your friend's F1 died of?

That is terrible news... How sad, especially after all you have done to help this poor cat. The breeder has no sort of health guarantee built into the contract? Or is that all void with the ownership change? So sorry to hear.. You have my sympathies, you are doing all the correct things in my eyes.

I am so sorry to hear this - how sad :( But I am glad that Shiro is with you and you will take good care of her...

The breeder null and voided the health guarantee because of the involuntary change of ownership and didn't want Shiro back because of lukemia... She released me from the contract. Talked with Bob and seems like he never disinfected his apartment after his F2 passed.

It's always a good idea to quarantine a new cat until all tests has been performed.. My quarantine room only consists of a few toys, bed, litter box, and dishes.. This way cleanup is easy. Once she has healed up, I have already found a permanent home for her. The older lady across the street has agreed to be her new mommy. She has 15 yrs old domestic shorthair, and I'm its godfather anyways.. Shiro will be happy there.. I can keep an eye on her.. I already take her cat to the vet, so another one won't hurt. She knows of SHiro's condition and said her cat lived a long, meaningfull life already. Lukemia will be the least of his worries.

I really hate giving away pets, but I have to think of Kronos and his health.. He's my buddy.
